My ultimate goal is to have three bikes when I retire in 2 1/2 years time I would like to have 1 x big cruiser/muscle type 1 x two up for Mrs Owl outings 1 x something else So far I have - Rocket on order/ current Africa Twin owner The current thought process is Rocket Possible new Tiger 900 (1000?) (trade Africa Twin) Speed Triple (used) I was always a big Ducati brand fan but Triumph have really got the bikes I like If you could have 3 bikes for normal use what would you have? If you are lucky enough to own more than 3 which 3 would be your choice?
SleepyOwl Yes I have five. Two Bonnie's one classic Bonnie to keep me pulling hair out. The street triple for keeping my heart working. And a Honda for the winter months. But these days I think two is fine as they all cost to much money. But I really don't want to part with any of them. Regards Joe.
I went down from 5 bikes to 1 don't regret it as it was hassle keeping up with them all . May consider one more but pretty happy with my Speed RS . Maybe a tourer if the Mrs was more up for it . But the more I ride and see pillions the less I feel it's safe to take pillion. My daughter has been on my pillion this year and I feel she is too vunerable .. am I getting old I wonder
I'd have... My current Sprint A Kawasaki Gt550 (or a Zephyr, but 1100. Like them too) A Suzuki Intruder. Likely to have.... The Sprint. Until my numbers come in.
Got 10 at the moment but the 3 I’ll keep in the end are Customised MT01 2006 Modern Bonneville 2011 Bsa A10 1959
I do like the Speed twin but is it too close to the Rocket in how you would use it? Would replace early Fireblade with Gixxr 750 but happy with either lol
Have found the 1200’s too much for what is needed but take your point. Tiger 1050 then 1200 were Mrs Owls favourite bikes that we had Hopefully the new “ whatever the fk it’s is Tiger” will be somewhere in between
So. Update. Decided to share my retirement plan with Mrs WideawakeOwl. This afternoon What do you need three bikes for was her reply? Good point but chose to ignore it
I've just gone from 3 bikes down to one... I'd have a tiger 800 - not sure which model Suzuki GSX1100efe (with a turbo would be nice) Some sort of track bike
My Mrs hates the pillion on the 800 too, so i leave her at home with the dog now. I fancy the idea of a 1200 tiger, but my legs aren't long enough Are they genuinely better than the 800 ??
@Duckadiledundee I had a 2013 which agreed was a while ago but was a great long distance tourer. Very top heavy though. I think the new 900(1000?) may be the perfect solution.
I've got a 2011 800 ABS roadie, which is pretty much perfect for me, i'd like a bit more grunt occasionally but other than that i couldn't ask for more
I have little interest in the GS to be honest, the 800 is the perfect size for me, with the saddle in the lowest position... I would only be interested in a 1200 tiger if it was the physically the same as the 800 - which i know it isn't. My intention is to buy a newer version of the 800 next year, although i don't know which model yet.
