Hi everyone. In really glad to become part of the community here and thought I'd better introduce myself and my history with Triumph motorcycles. Starting in the dim and distant past... I was brought up, or maybe "dragged up" would be a better description, with motorcycles (especially Triumphs) in my blood. My dad was always a Triumph man, and my earliest time on a bike was as pillion on his Speed Twin (then a 20 year old motorcycle, mid-1950's 500cc). I still remember it vividly, as the vibrations kept pounding my body, my teeth and my hands (which were holding on tightly so that I didn't fall off), as we kept going faster and faster.. (Approx 80 mph!). In the late 70s I paid (well, dad loaned me...) £50 (a fortune when I had £3 a week coming in from a paper round) for a rusting Triumph Tiger Cub, which together we would do up in time for me to use when I became 17 Time moved forward and at 17, the Cub still wasn't finished (I blame the typical lazy teen-ager ) so I started on a range of Japanese bikes (Dad still had Triumphs) and the Tiger Cub became my mums bike. Over the next decades, Japanese bikes have dominated, but I always wanted another Triumph and a couple of years ago I finally had my opportunity... ... I'm in a bike shop having convinced my wonderful wife that I need a newer, bike for practical reasons (read that as meaning a used 500cc commuter), and beside the commuter was a beautiful 2012 gold Bonneville. I came home with the Bonnie This year, I've further added to my Triumph joy, as my dad can no longer ride his bikes, so I've inherited his favourite bike (a 1920s Triumph Model P, flat tanker) and the Triumph Tiger Cub back from my mum. So to summarise, I'm a 2nd generation Triumph nut, now with 3 generations of Triumphs (Coventry, Meriden & Hinckley), and very, very happy
Great introduction and welcome to the forum. You are one lucky guy. Wish my dad was into Triumphs than Lambrettas
