Hey all! I know this has been discussed on the Triumph RAT Forum; I am also posting it here to increase visibility. Maybe someone at Triumph will read this.

The issue is the missing SPORT and RIDER Modes as well as the missing auto cancelling indicators. These features are well documented on both Triumph website and within the owner's guide. My bike was not delivered these features and I know others on here have bikes without these also.

Calls to Triumph USA (I'm in the USA, do not know if the problem exists worldwide) customer service confirm these features should be available. The representatives state the issue might be an incomplete PDI by the dealer. My dealer states the correct software has been downloaded into my bike and that all of his equipment is up to date.

I simply want what I paid for....not some "water downed" version of my bike. I also want an answer as to either why Triumph cannot make the advertised features available or why my dealer cannot access the proper software.

My hope is that we all can share information. Who all is having this problem and what is the status of your attempts to have it fixed?

Strange that. Quite simply I would take the bike back and ask for my money back as it is sold unprepared or as described.
    Regards
    Joe.

On the USA website, it lists the three modes; RAIN, ROAD, and SPORT. In the owner's guide, it lists four modes: RAIN, ROAD, SPORT, and RIDER. The owner's guide is also where the auto cancelling indicators feature is listed.

    Hi there.
I THINK it's only the rs version that has extra?
I have a speed rs and that has an extra mode that the r version doesn't have.
Although, having a track mode available to get to asda (walmart) a bit quicker is wasted on me.... ;-)
As for the indicators, you can turn them on/off on the screen (along with duration etc).
    Apologies if i'm wrong etc.

The 2020 RS adds a TRACK mode that is unavailable to the other models.

The 2020 R has the analog tack and LCD screen found on the S model; here in the USA we do not get the S version..only the R and RS versions now. The R is also available as a LRH model.

The R version should have auto cancelling indicators (you can turn it "on" or "off"), but that option is completely missing from my bike.

The software I have basically provides the functional equivalent of the S model and not the R model I chose to purchase.

I don’t think it is advertised out here in the UK as having ‘rider’ mode. I am waiting to pick up mine hopefully next week and I am only aware of 3 modes.

Just had a thought - is the owners manual generic and applicable to both the R and the RS models and therefore lists the RS modes as well?

The owners manual covers all three versions of the bike: the S, the R, and the RS and outlines the specific differences between each where appropriate. For example, the RS has the TFT screen and the section that details the operation of this screen only applies to the RS. The R and S have the LCD screen and the owners manual details the operation of this as well. Any features and functions that only apply to the S or only the R are specifically called out.

On the USA website, the owners manual for the 2020 models is listed as Street Triple. The older models owner manual is listed as Street Triple - Previous.

    Hi Music Guy,

This problem is not unique to the USA. I picked up my UK spec bike 2 weeks ago and have exactly the same issues, No sport or rider modes and no cancelling indicators.

Got in touch with Triumph UK and they confirmed that they are aware of the lack of a Sport Mode. They are working on a software update that will be sent to the dealers and they hope it will be ready by the time the bike goes in for its first 600mile service. They say it will be updated on to the bikes ECU and the mode will then be operational. They also confirmed the bike does not have self cancelling indicators apparently it is a misprint in the manual, what a full page on how to arm and disarm them !!.

I am not sure about the Rider mode it talks about in the manual I an hoping it comes as part of the Sport Mode update. I will post again once I have had it done.

If the issue rolls on too long I will reject the bike but I am extremely reluctant to as in 40 years of riding all sorts of different bikes this one has won me over instantly and is by far the best so far.

    Hope this helps

Interesting to know it is affecting UK bikes as well. I should be picking mine up in the next couple of weeks so I will be sure to ask about it and will let you know what they tell me.

Today, I dropped my R off at the dealer for its first service. I asked them to look into the two issue (modes and indicators) mentioning they could keep the bike as needed to (hopefully) resolve the issue. I will post what is communicated once I pick my bike up from the dealer.

I'm not certain the "...sorry, but we made a mistake when printing the manual.." explanation is sufficient. That is a pretty big mistake when you consider that manufacturers vet documents over and over gain before releasing them to the public. Also, this manual was made available before the bike was even released. Whoever was in charge of proof reading the manual ought to be sacked!

I just spoke with my dealer. Triumph USA is now stating the 2020 Street Triple R only has two riding modes (RAIN and ROAD) and the auto cancelling indicators is not an available feature either. Funny, the both the Triumph website and the official YouTube video created by Triumph Motorcycles show the Street Triple R as having at least the SPORT mode, if not the RIDER mode.

All I know is the owner's guide states the 2020 Street Triple R has auto cancelling indicators and demonstrates how to setup said feature in both written form and graphical form.

I would like a count as to how many of us are out there with 2020 Street Triple R's that do not have the advertised features. Also, does anyone know how to download a YouTube video? I need to save it before Triumph changes it.

    Hey Music Guy,

Cannot understand why Triumph USA would state that when it is quite obvious as you say it comes with 3 modes Rain Road and Sport. The official Triumph video at 4;06 seconds quite clearly shows it. I have had confirmation from Triumph UK that they are aware of the issue and are issuing an update to fix it. Unless it is a USA spec difference I would ask your dealer to sort it or reject the bike as it is clearly not as specified.

There are lots of publications in the UK when announcing the bike back in Feb stated that it came with 3 modes so its not as if they can erase it from history.

I note you posted on Tuesday, is it still the case or have things moved on since your post.

Rider mode is on the RS only, or it was when I had mine (2017).

    Hi Billy,

We understand that may be the case with the 2017 RS model, but this problem is only relevant to the present 2020 Street Triple R as it shows the Rider Mode in the manual along with detailed instructions on how to set it up. Looks like the bike has been rushed out to me with not all intended features present.

Unfortunately, I don't know any more than what I knew the other day. My dealer indicated he sent communication to the Regional Sales Manager, but I have not heard a result as of yet.

I have all the documentation including copies of the owner's guide, the website, and a full copy of the official YouTube video Triumph produced. Everything Triumph has made public confirms the existence of these features.

The Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act does not allow Triumph to advertise a product as having certain features and then deliver a product without those features. Currently, they are in violation of that law. I think this is beyond any dispute. What is questionable is what exact harm has been caused by their failure to provide these features.

Next week I plan to attempt to escalate the matter through Triumph USA customer service. Hopefully, that will provide substantive answers. Ultimately, I simply want to know definitively what Triumph's plans are as to how they will rectify the situation.

I'm not looking forward to potentially having to litigate the matter, but I am keeping my options open as well as my understanding of all available avenues to address this matter.

According to @Ducatitotriumph, if I were Track Mode I'd be going to Walmart as quickly as I could. ;)
