On my last bike there was wiring on the loom to power accessories like radar, where power automatically cuts when you shut off the ignition. Is there something like this on the RS or will I need to splice into something else? If the latter, any recommendations? Thanks
Yes there is, underneath the seat cover there is a plug available. (Right Hand side) My dealer installed my sat nav to it.
Probably a silly question but... by under seat cover do you mean remove the actual seat cover? What will I be looking for? This would be great for me as I need to connect my phone to use as a Sat Nav for when I go to France in May.
Right, obviously I’m mistaking.the connector is under neath the DRIVER seat. So took this off and made a couple pictures. Don’t know if connector is standard present, otherwise your dealer or internet may be of use.
Yes thanks, wondering if the wires need some form of connector to fit into that socket, or if they just push in. I’m no electrician!
I think they need a connector, since my dealer switched pos en neg by mistake and could switch them in the connector. Might need to visit your dealer to sort this out.
So under this connector there are 5 tiny spade connectors; if you take the cover plug off, pull out the rubber bungs, you can wire to these with 3mm female spade connectors. Got the volt meter out today, the bottom left connector is live and middle connector on top is neutral, power switches off with ignition. Bit of soldering and heat shrink tube and my radar is fitted and goes on and off with ignition. Job done!
What do you mean by radar? Did you see in the news recently a woman had a jamming device. A speed camera tried to take four shots and they were repeatedly blocked. She got taken to court for perverting the course of justice and ended up with £2k court costs, points, blah blah blah. An expensive day out for her.
Many thanks for the info Arno...wired mine up this evening....In case anyone is interested, the connectors are easily available (electrodart on e-bay) and are made by Sumitomo as with many Triumph connectors...took some detective work to find this out!
I just wanted to thank Graham at ElectroDart for my (very reasonably priced) connectors. I now have a very neat plug in for a switched power source without clipping any cables. Nice. If anyone wants some connectors they are available at https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/electrodartconnectors Cheers, David.
