Will my 12 speed r have SAI? Looking at tune ecu for mapping with the high levels arrows but I'm not sure if it will have sai for the check box on the program?
Tried a search on SAI but it's too short a word!
    Thanks

It stands for secondary air injection. Yes you should have it on a 12 plate speed

Hi Robin, are you thinking of removing the SAI system?
Here's a few things you might like to bear in mind:

    1. The AI check box that you see when looking at TuneECU has one function and one function only. If the AI has been removed, there would normally be an error code stored which would trigger the EML or Engine Management Light - with this AI box unticked, there will be no error code or light. IT DOES NOT turn off the actual FUNCTIONING of the AI system.

    2. If using a Triumph std.map, when you remove the AI system there no longer any supplementary air going into the exhaust manifolds to burn off any unburnt fuel. This has an impact on the readings given by the O² sensors down stream and can encourage the ECU to lean-off the fuelling.

    3. Both the AI system and the O² sensors only operate for a part of the time the bike is running. These two elements are part of a package of anti pollution measures and are designed to worked in harmony with the manufacturer emission testing procedures.

As such they operate only at certain throttle positions - on my EFi Bonneville these systems only operate at 0% to 6%of throttle opening. Other models and makes (that I have come across) work on 0% - 10% - but you get the idea, small throttle openings. This is one reason why you get popping on over-run (0% throttle opening)

I'm starting to bore myself now (so how must you be feeling ) but I hope you get the idea.

Some fuel map makers such as TTP design their maps to work without the O² sensors, so they must be removed for the bike to run properly.

What thebiglad has said is correct. To be honest I would leave the SAI alone
