Hi all. I have bought the genuine Triumph LED Indicator kit with relay listed by Triumph for the 2011+ ST3 which I would like to fit to my 09 bike. Here are the instructions:

    https://www.triumphinstructions.com/ProdDocs/T2701048-EN.pdf

My question is, can I install it as if it were a 2011 bike? Do I just replace my indicator relay with this new LED relay thus making it 'plug-and-play' or is it an additional relay to be wired in as per these instructions. If so, will the wiring colours match up?

Help MUCH appreciated. If its not possible I'd have to return them they are not cheap. Would not like to go the resistor route either, looking for a factory install.

Turns out that some Triumph electronic management systems post 2009 will automatically adjust to avoid the rapid flashing associated with LED retrofits. Some older CANBUS systems will need the whole relay / resistor song and dance. I'll have a go and let you know how I get on.

    So!

I did a quick fit on the rear and they are in fact plug and play - if you take the seat off you'll see the connectors are the bullet type and in they go.

The relay in front of the battery to the left handles the indicators and if you don't replace this you do get rapid flashing. However, the Triumph relay (round one in image) goes straight in with no rewiring at all - which was a great bonus! Even better, you could probably save yourself a few quid and replace it with a much cheaper relay of the same spec.

The front indicators on my bike (2009 Speed Triple) have the connectors just under the tank so you will have to remove it or lift it to get to them - however, you can just cut the wires closer to the radiator cowl by the indicator and re-terminate them if you don't want to do that.
