    Hi Guys,
Just wondering if anyone can help please.

I am going to fit running lights to a friend's 2011 Triumph America and need to know how much power the alternator can give for the task without being overloaded.

I am surprised that some LED spots say they are 40 watts. Is that normal? My experience with LEDs was that they took very little current compared with filament lamps.

    Any help would be appreciated.

There was a day/driving light bar from Triumph, for the Speed Master / America I think it was 2003 or 2004 it had 40/50 watt globes. So there is plenty of spare amps in the std charging system.!.! I have a home made spot light bar, use 8mm aluminum flat plate to mount a pair of head lights off a 90's twin headlight model speed triple, I use 35 watt HID lights on my 2009 America, it's run fine day or night use and now 106,000 klms and 8+ years.

    Cheers capt
