2008 Bonneville engine management light on

    I'm not happy.....:rolleyes:
    My new Kwak broke down on me the other day, no worries i thought, i'll use the Bonnie....
    So, on my way to work this morning, all was well, the sun was shining, the bike was purring like a kitten then the engine management light came on !
    There was no loss of power, or any other symptoms of something going wrong. just the light came on. So, erring on the side of caution, i turned round and went home for the car.
    I have charged the battery tonight, as i have read on the net, it can be a common problem with the Bonnie.
    I also read about the 3 heat cycles which the bike needs to go through before the light will go out, is this right ?
    Has anyone got any advice, or info on this ?

    I have successfully used the 3 heat cycle trick to reset the engine management light on a Sprint RS but haven't needed to try it on the Bonnie. If it comes on again after resetting then you may have a problem.

    Did the 3 cycles on my Tiger, start bike and just let it run up till the fan kicks in (dont rev it or touch anything) hit the kill switch and let it cool down...way down.... then repeat, the Tiger was ok after 2 cycles :)

    Well, that didn't work for me...
    Used the bike for work this morning, all seems fine, no suspicious noises, smoke, or anything really, it just runs like it did before the light came on.
    I'm gonna give it one more run tomorrow, and see what gives, otherwise its off to Webbs in Eye to plug into their machine to find what the fault is, god knows what that will cost :rolleyes:

    Well bugger me...on my way to work this morning the engine management light just went out...

    Welcome to the family. If you have a Bonnie hit the upload a file button bottom right and show us the steed. The cycle resets the ecu settings. Usually I do two 12 minute runs Cooling between then go for a spin. The ecu just resets and all is fine. O'h and if you haven't already start a thread in the newbies and introduce your self

    Thanks for your reply Joe. Obviously I am a new boy to the Forum. I am retired and am 71 years old. I own a T100 2011 Bonneville
