Just picked this T20SM up and trying to adjust the clutch springs. They seem to stick out too far, about 3/8" from the outside plate. Other photos of TC clutches show the head of the spring screw to be almost flush with the pin bolt. There are scrape marks from the spring bolts on the outer case. When I try and screw in the spring bolts to the top of the pin bolts, the clutch will not disengage.

The springs, friction and steel plates all seem to be within standards.
My springs are 1.500”/38MM, Friction plates (3) are .142”/3.6MM thick, Steel plates (3) are .065”/1.65MM.

Any ideas or is this normal?

    Thanks, Geoff

@Geof U Welcome to the family. Firstly make sure there is no play in the clutch drum. The springs should be screwed evenly i used to slacken the clutch cable at the bars then adjust the springs till the screw edge was even with the pressure plate as a starting point. Take the plugs out and spin the bike over gently and check the same gap all around the pressure plate and friction plates. Of course set the cables again first. There are a couple of peeps on here who are Gods at the smaller classics and i am sure they will jump to your aid very soon.
