hello all, im at a loss. i installed the engine guard and the only thing EXTRA i had to do was remove the ignition and put it back over the engine guard housing. as far as i know i did not hit the oil cooler, but now its leaking. it wasnt leaking before. I may have to get a new guard but i wanted to reach out and see if anyone had any insight. I am ready to chat and answer any questions to get my bike to stop leaking oil.

    Let me know!

    Bless
    Ross

    Hello Rosser,

Welcome in ! First thing would be to remove the guard again and give the area a proper clean. When it’s dry and free from oil, start the bike and see if you can trace the leak. You might want to keep the bike as upright as possible without the possibility of it falling over. The reason for this is so that whilst it idles it’s not leaning to one side the entire time as it will have to run for a while to get the temperature up.

From here on you should be able to see where it’s coming from and action accordingly.

It’s a bit tedious but the right way imo. Let us know what you find.

Little hard for me to see in pictures, but I am wondering if this is not some damage previously undiscovered from dropping it ? I got to agree with Angus. Get it clean and dry by pressure.washing it, then start it up and see where the oil starts seeping first. I would especially check around the banjo fittings on the oil cooler and cylinder head. ...J.D.

The leak appears to be under the banjo fitting. You may have knocked it installing the engine bars.
Try turning the top hexagon bolt head a quarter turn maximum - an eighth initially and see if it stops. Failing that you need to replace the crush washers ...... unless there is other invisible damage to the hose or cooler matrix.

It doesnt seem like the bolt can be turned at all, at least not without me really roughly moving the whole cooler around. i did not try to loosen it; i ordered a new used oil cooler, assuming that there is some sort of unseen damage. i guess i'll have to go hard on the bolts at that time. struggling
