Hey Figgy, welcome aboard. Soooo love the looks of that Street Cup (from the folks at Pure Triumph?). I'm in Bedford too. Your Trumpet will love warming its tyres on the Kimbolton Road twisties over to Higham. Let me know if you ever fancy a ride out. I'll happily pootle along with you on my Bonnie or Street Twin. I'm okay for most any fine day. Just shout out. https://www.facebook.com/richard.bryce.169. Rich
Hey Martin, pity it was so foggy so the video quality is rather on the $h!te side, but here's a rough cut of your first ride on the yellow peril. My apologies for Paul's 'kin bad language, and his apologies for mine.
Thanks littelade, and thanks Rich and Paul for the video and the escort. Yesterday was a real learning curve in many ways: 1 I went to great lengths to get my own GoPro set-up to record for posterity, and got home to findd that when I had set it off at the outset it had taken a beautiful still photo! User error as they say! 2 The fog meant I couldn't see anything through my visor, so in practice I rode all the way with my visor open. Brrrr! Rich pointed out afterwards that it was probably water droplets on the visor as much as mist, and a quick wipe of the finger would have helped. Probably true but I have to say I'm not impressed generally with my Pinlock stopping it from fogging up. Is that unusual? 3 The heated grips were lovely and needed, but didn't really help my fingers. 4 Thick winter gloves were more of a hindrance than a help. I really struggled to use the indicators with them on, and kept hitting the headlight high beam switch by mistake too. 5 Easy to get lost even when relatively close to home when you can't see a map! Looking forward to learning more lessons!
Welcome to the wonderful world of winter motorcycling figwold. You will discover a world of helpful equipment to get you through some tough winter conditions. There are many articles on this forum regarding gadgets and clothing and I am sure you will enjoy the wealth of knowledge available, enjoy your new bike and ride safely, it won`t be long until the spring is upon us and we can all get out and do what we enjoy most and that is riding our bikes. In case I forget, a Happy and healthy New Year to you all
Hi Figwold You looked to be riding well to say it is your first bike. 1) Personally I don't like or use a video camera when biking so no problem to me. 2) Driving in fog is a bastard full stop! 3) Been a lot of dissatisfied forum members re. Heated grips. Again not for me. 4) Modern materials do not have to be thick to be warm, look at different winter gloves and silk inners. 5) Again, fog related and not being able to see landmarks. Enjoy your lovely new bike, ride safely and pick your days wisely for longer rides in this shitty weather, it's not much fun in fog and drizzle no matter what anybody says.
Totally agree darkman, Sometimes you've just got to pay the dosh. It makes sense to be comfortable if you are riding through the winter months.
They are only around £48.00 if you look around and with the heated grips are amazing, so good i bought a pair for my Su as she has small hands and hates big puffy gloves as she reckons it's like riding a marshmallow lol
Thanks littleade, had another look at the Pinlock and, as you suggested, it wasn't seated properly. Taken it out and adjusted and it seems a much better fit now. Hopefully that will make a big difference.
