I've had my speedmaster for a couple of months and would appreciate any tips on riding it, maintaining it, servicing it, etc. I can't afford taking it to the mechanic for every little thing so I'm kind of in a hurry to learn. Thanks in advance for your time. Cheers!!!
Well, things to look out for. I'm quite ignorant as far as mechanics and.........right now I'm wondering about the radiator and how to check it's ok and what needs doing to it to make sure it stays "healthy". Do you have the same bike? Thanks for replying!!
Nice looking bike. They dont have radiators mate, its an oil cooler actually. Just keep it clean & polished to keep the dreaded rust away from the chrome. Regular oil changes with decent quality oil & filters & just enjoy it mate. Oh & try not to look at other peoples Speedmasters & Americas as it just encourages you to spend a small fortune or extras & shiny bits! Lol
Oh & i noticed you have a leather tank cover, be careful with these as ive heard of them scratching the tank if grit gets caught up behind them. Might be worth trying to affix some felt or similar material behind it if possible.
Sorry, oil cooler.....radiator....same thing, right? Actually, I bought the bike as it is on the picture. It came with a few extras which I don't like very much and might consider selling them in the near future. Thanks again for replying. I'll definitely come back with more questions if that's alright. Cheers!!
Hi Carlos, welcome to the forum ,I have a 2005 Speedmaster if you look at my profile you will see,the basic rule is if its not broken don't touch it ,as Beta says just do all the checks and levels ,it would pay to buy a Haynes manual it tells you about servicing and maintaince ,as for riding just remember its a cruiser so it won't be the the fastest and you can't swing it into bends as the pipes will hit the floor but its a brill bike to ride ,i've just upgraded the front sproket on mine better fuel economy as brings the revs down, well hope this helps but feel free to ask any other questions, they are a good bunch of lads on here and you will always get an answer
Thanks a lot!! I might pick your brain about the front sprocket as I've noticed about the fuel consumption and would like to improve it. Good night for now and thanks again for replying.:upyeah:
