Started a new thread, as suggested. Here is a wiring diagram to fit one of the £6.69 Chinese tacho, available from Ebay. I am currently waiting on delivery of all the components, and will in time get a 'kit' of parts together and make up a plug and play solution. Priced to cover my costs only. Please feel free to take this info and make your own up. Link to pins Link to resistors Link to diode Link to piggybacks
I have the Tacho and the wiring kit FOR SALE plus instructions !!! Bought it for my 2014 America but sold bike before I could fit it, Cost me 6.69 plus 15 wiring total of 21.69 looking to get my money back So save yourself the waiting time from china !!! Sold as seen and buyer pays postage costs, no takers it going on ebay for a little more !!!
I refuse to answer that SCOOT as a simple YES would not be fully answering your question in a way that would see me coming out fully SANE. ENOUGH SAID !!!
I am totally fecked off with this job. Got my new tachograph, still can't get the fecking thing to work. I know what is drawn above should work, but just can't get a signal to the tachograph. The 'adapter' is identical to someone else's, but just will not work on my bike. If someone fancies having a go, I will send them a kit of parts for nowt! Only thing required, is that if they get it working, they come on here and share.
Could be, I'm just fed up trying to get this working. Spent loads of time and a few quid trying to get this sorted.
Perhaps the harness adapter thingy from that David bloke ain't quite so bad after all. He has obviously done all the trial & area malarkey & the ones he sells actually work.
I have one from DLJ but unfortunately I didnt get the chance to fit or try it before I changed my bike !! Tacho and wire available !! I believe Mr O's wiring harness was based on the exact same principal DLJ's was !!
Thanks Half Ton, but already seen a DLJ 'adapter' and been sent a full set of his garbled instructions, my diagram above is same as his solution, and the same as the solution, I found and posted on the other thread (within 10 minutes of calling him out on this), just 2 x diodes and 2 x 100k ohm resistors, that's it. No development, no trials, not rocket science, just taken off the internet and used to make some money for himself. The only difference is, I have made it easy to understand, so that all can see, not keeping secrets for personal gain. The knowledge is out there, just took 10 minutes of searching to find it, which he did admit to. The hard part is getting all the pieces together and getting the correct pins to go into the multiplug (which DLJ did not get the right pins, which should lock in, see my link on the 1st post for the correct pins), took me ages to find the correct oem one's from RS to fit our multiplugs. I have no idea why it won't work on my bike, but am, as I said, willing to supply a kit to someone else for free, for them to try. Maybe I have been sent 2 duff tacho's from china ???? I just don't know the answer.
EXCELLENT SUGGESTION HALFTON --- SITS BACK AND WAITS FOR THE POUNDS TO ROLL IN !!! (Thats where I'm going wrong- thinks a while ) BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY AWAITS BUDDING ENTREPRENEUR Make massive profits, for a very small outlay and very little work. please contact TEZ via - thetriumphforum - For a devilish plan
I ordered kit as well and two rev counters neither would work ! also spoke to another triumph owner on ride out yesterday who had bought kit that did not work either have bit the bullet and ordered new from triumph now (wish I had done so in beginning)
I've fitted a tacho and it works fine. I know these tachos are cheep but for so many to be faulty seems excessive. Don't bite my head off for suggesting this but are people connecting to the correct side of the coils? Do the ones that don't work do anything at all or even light up? The principle works so why so many installations don't seems odd. Andy
yes thought that tested with multi meter have feed to counter (it lights up) did connect to the two wires on coil with stripe in them as per instructions
Mr O should be along shortly, If he doesn't then I have the one he sent to me, together with a wiring kit and the actual tacho all unused. (part ex'ed my America before attempting to fit)
Yes, will dig it out. Never got them to work, even using the bought kit from a now ex-member. Have 2 tacho sat in the garage. In fact still on the bike, never got round to removing it.
