My 20 year old jacket is starting to disintegrate, sadly I need to replace, not so easy, either jackets are hugely expensive because of a fashionable name, or cheap and rubbish. Bloody hell .... they're just round the corner (okay, about 10-15 minutes depending on which way I go and how easily I manage to get over the level crossing at Howden station) from Chateau Goolie! Shame I don't need a jacket. Could possibly manage a polo shirt though. Will have to save up my pocket money!

I ordered a "pioneer" cotton waxed jacket from Claymore, there is about an eight week waiting list at the moment. You have to take quite a number of measurements, which are checked, queried and retaken, the jacket makes about a week to make. Arrived this morning, absolutely perfect fit, very high quality materials and workmanship, the colour is darker and better than shown in the brochure. The contact at Claymore is Carl Wilson, buying blind on line is risky, but this is recommended, much better quality than off the peg, better materials and made in the UK. Cost was a bit less than advertised, inc postage came out at £320.00, which I think is very good value, - highly recommended. Big problem is that it is a Christmas present from missus om, so can't wear it for a month.
Hmmmmm .... I think I may have to go knocking on their door in the not too distant future. Very nice. And have you seen the price of a similar Belstaff jacket? They are surely extracting industrial quantities of piss. I once had a Belstaff jacket, as did many others at that time. I could afford it, and I was only a student with a normal grant and a dependency on part time (holiday) jobs to make ends meet. There is no way that I would ever consider forking out almost £600 for one today!
