Running around town , shortish trips, the temp guage shows about third of the way to hot. I'd guess normal, but I haven't had the bike long and no manual or handbook....
Fast long motorway blast, temp drops to almost cold., slow down, get back into traffic, guage returns to 'normal'.....And these fast blasts at the weekend here in sunny Portugal, were in 35ÂșC -in-the-shade. Running too cold at 160kph?
    Whaddya think anyone?

Mine varies a lot also but I think this is the norm. Around town and stuck in traffic i get up to 104c then the fan kicks and drops to about 96c. On a run temp is about 81c. I did however notice that here in the uk that on the hotter days the fan kicks in and out quite a bit. Cant comment on colder weather as I've only had this bike since July.

So as you can see from my experience the enginge temp goes up and down all the time which I think is normal.

If it was a fourwheel tin box I'd be thinking thermostat problem..... Again, so far no manual , so don't even know if it's got one , though I'd guess it must have....

@ Unclejonboy - I'd be inclined to have a look at the thermostat to make sure it's opening and shutting correctly - AND IT'S THERE !!

Sometimes peeps take the 'stat out thinking it's help the bike in hotter weather. Truth is that the engine is designed within a range of temps and if it's to low it won't operate to it's maximum.

Checking the 'stat would be a good place to start...............................

PS Does the fan EVER come on?

My Trident gets up to about halfway in town traffic, but in 'normal' running it only ever reaches about a quarter of the way up.
I do believe that the thermostat is in the top pipe on the left side of the radiator (the one under the plastic cover). Never had the need to disturb it meself, so far, but give it time .........

Sounds normal for a T3 to me. Thermostats are not known for giving a problem on these bikes.
