Totally agree screwball, the point of this forum for me was good banter mixed with good advice from people who weren't up their own arses. We dropped to page 5 in the google rankings the other week hence why we haven't had a new member for nearly a month, the way to increase that is posts (among other things). If we rely on technical queries only then were simply not going to get enough posts to keep us on page 1 of the google rankings let alone in the top 4 which is where realistically it actually needs to be to get new memebers. Not trying to tell the site admin people how to suck eggs at this point by the way just making a point that they probably already know. Its not like they jumped on newbees and took the piss straight away but if they wanted banter then great, if not no problem. Sorry this has turned into a bit of a rant but loosing two decent guys from the forum because of banter just seems ridiculous if this site becomes like the others out there where this sort of banter is frowned upon then I'm out too. Just sayin...
Totally agree SpankyHam and Screwball ,I can understand I suppose but I didn't think they were that bad ,I have had a chat with Bry and it is a shame ,there are plaeny of forums which i found a bit boring and this one was a good one ,I can see Admins reasons but it is a shame there aren't talking :frown:
I agree on almost everything but what is seen as banter to some is taking the piss to others. I have seen quite a few new members join, post a few things...... then nothing. Lots of threads end up on a completely different subject usually sex of some sort: rolleyes: Just think it puts new members off. I joined the forum last year, when days would go by before anyone would post and its only after the arrival of Conquest Carbon as admin that things have got going; he worked hard to get the forum out there setting up the facebook page, twitter feed, and getting the dealers on here. One of the best things we could all do is get a few of the forum cards and hand them out at meets to other Triumph owners. Hope Pig and Bry stay with the forum the place is a little tame without them but a forum without any intervention from admin is a recipe for chaos.
Nice to see bry back but sadly pig has left and has cancelled his membership ,perhap he will rejoin soon ,i think we all have the forums best interest at heart and although i only joined a month or two ago love the banter and its just a bit of fun and if anyone has a problem it always gets an answer long my the forum last and i for one will be giving out as many cards as i can.............

I joined because I bought a Speed, I still look at the 'other' forum 1krr and still post there,but I use the forums to get advice,share tips, post pics and have a laugh? its a personal choice at the end of the day - just like if you like the current wife to get a big strap on and...ahh thats another forum!! there we go back to the norm then!

Hi guys, hope you dont mind me sticking my nose in, but, I think Richard hit it on the head. It seems some of you guys have a really good friendship, the humour is very personal sometimes. I can understand that some people, maybe not getting the joke. Maybe being a bit frustrated that threads go off topic so quickly. It is hard to find the perfect balance, I just started at another triumph forum just because there is more, dare I say it, "knowledge". Not knocking you guys but sometimes it seems that the humour is taking the place of knowlegde. The other site I have to say is very dry!!! Almost no humour.... At the end of the day, its just words...
I understand exactly what you're saying, K. I have found that I like this forum for the social interaction that's here as well as the knowledge base. At the end of the day we are all individuals and I admit that I'm a childish wanker and I post a lot of crap but if you can point out a post where a serious question was asked and it wasn't answered due to the 'banter' I'll apologise unreservedly. There are a lot of forums out there and I hope that the deserving ones (like I hope you think this one is) find their niche! :smile: Just how important are these things, anyway? I've come to realise as I get older that life is not a rehearsal. If you're doing something that others don't like, move on to a place where they do. If this place doesn't like me I'll move on without any regrets and, I hope, without causing anyone any discomfort. Just sayin'...
I agree with you Bry, Im actually hoping that when I get over to the uk I will be able to put some faces to the posts Ive read. You know, get a bit personal :wink: You are dead right about life not being a rehearsal, but how many times do you see people misunderstanding things. Sometimes on purpose. Some people will never fit in, doesnt matter how tame the forum is, for others it will be too boring.
I think that for a forum to be 100% perfect you would have to be psychic! You would have to be serious on posts where you, personally, wanted a serious answer and be able to take the piss on the ones that you weren't that interested in. Difficult. Try to get over for our rally at the end of July?
Im actually over the first 2 wks in july, but that is a family trip. Sunderland, Worcester then down to Hastings. Should be in the UK 24 aug, travelling north. Have 8-10 days. Hope to get out in the evenings to pub meets and such.... Sorry for hijacking the thread
