Good evening Triumph Owners of the world first time on here so please be gentle with me !! I got a 2005 T100 had it since 09 and she has never missed a beat, last week i noticed the rev counter needle wavering at between 3 and 4k at steady RPM then it started to misfire intermittently with the rev counter needle taking a dive as it misses, then it will clear for a few miles and do it again.. anyone had this experience before, i checked ht leads plugs etc so we could start at the plugs and work through coils etc and spend a fortune to find its another problem entirely so thought i had better ask first Thanks in anticipation Tony
Swap coils over as number 1 feeds the rev counter, if misfire is still there and rev counter ok then it's the coil
Thanks guys... i had a feeling the coil and the rev counter were linked... will try that.. watch this space
I'm guessing that it's a carb model based on the age? If so darkmans idea should point you in the right direction. While you're poking about with the coil, check the ignitor multi-plug connection on the ignitor as it might be loose. I had a 07 Speedmaster that blew the ignitor, when I sorted it out I found a hairline crack on the back of the ignitor that ran to the board at the base of the pins and one pin was corroded. Once I changed the ignitor everything was hunky-chunky. I understand that this caused a problems with ignitors as they nice and warm being tucked up right above the engine. Best of luck and keep us informed of progress.
