    Hello !
2004 Bonneville with 27,000 km showing "peeling" coating and a small bit of rust in fuel tank.Seems to run o.k.,but going to get a mechanic to clean out the tank as a preventative measure.
As this is a carbed bike,am I correct in thinking there is no new style filter in the tank with the fuel pump?I thought I read somewhere there is "gauze" style filtration in a couple of different locations:
    1) Inside line in close to fuel pump
    2) in petcock tube (requiring complete replacemant)
Is someone able to verify this and if possible direct me to parts required,so I can have everything accessible when it goes in for tank cleaning..
    Thanks again!

Hello, there is no pump in the tank on carb bikes. as for the filters they just need cleaning, shouldn't need any new parts, easy to do yourself. There is a filter on top of the petrol tap, just like the taps of old. The second filter is in the fuel line just were it splits into two, a lot of people just throw this one away, I did many years ago and have had no problems so far.
