I've just booked on the above (first trackday on a bike), it's a road bike only day so hopefully riders will be better behaved.

Just wondered if anyone else on here was attending?

Probably my favourite track to ride next to the international circuit at Brands. Enjoy but keep safe.

General advice is to usually fold in or tape over your mirrors but I’d say leave em where they are and USE them. I went on a road bike only track day at Cadwell and if I’d not had a glance in the mirror prior to entering Hall bends I’d have been knocked off by a rider clearly faster than me but who had no respect for where he passed other riders.
Start slow and build speed as you do more laps and beware of Craner curves, the left side of the tyre will be cooler after mainly right turns (DAMHIK;))
Above all enjoy the day, it’s a great circuit.

Agreed, faster riders will come up surprisingly fast and take you unawares.

I remember standing in the crew room one year and Ron Haslam asked me how I was getting on. I was riding one of his 600 RRs or a Blade. I said I was reasonably happy but timing the braking into corners was my main hang up. He said "well you have ABS on the bikes so why not use it. Initially squeeze the front brake lever sufficiently to get the tyre well bedded into the tarmac and then pull the lever as hard as you can and let the ABS do its stuff".

I have to admit that I did sharpen up my braking technique but I chickened out on intentionally engaging the ABS as my only road bike at the time was totally analogue.

@Yorkshireman has already advised about taking Craner Curve on the cool side of the tyre. Even more reason why you need to be on the right hand side of the track coming out of Redgate, not as easy as it sounds.

The other spot which can take you unawares is the straight from Copice to the Esses, Starkey's Straight, Depending on the machine you are on you will find that about half way along there is a gentle dip in the track. Anything above 130 and you will find that the front wheel will catch some air. Most noticeable on the Blades that I rode. They will easily do the whole circuit in second gear :joy:

Above all, gently, gently, enjoy and keep safe.
