Well it’s finally home. I bought this 1991 Suzuki DR650RSE a year or so ago with the intention of doing a mechanical recommission of it myself. It became obvious over the intervening months that I simply didn’t have the time.
I took it to a local Indy and asked him to just do a mechanical recommission for me. New rear shock, new fork stations, fork seals etc, secondhand swing arm, new discs, pads and braided hoses both ends with the callipers being rebuilt. New chain and sprockets, replacement carb, new tyres a full service and test, and any other bits he came across. I got it back on Friday and have only ridden it home really. Around 15 miles. Still waiting for the new mirrors to arrive but it’s now taxed, tested and insured. Hope to get out on it tomorrow weather permitting.
It is not pretty but it is fun to ride and I won’t really mind if I drop it on the trails.

Thanks @joe mc donald I’ve been playing about with it today and rerouted the front brake hose. This not only looks better but because I have got rid of the big loop in the brake hose I have managed to bleed it again and now have much better front brake.
I did around 115 miles yesterday on it and it ran absolutely fine.
It’s a very different ride than my BMW R1250 GSA being a single but I really do like it. Enough to try to ride it to my lads place in Chamonix? We’ll see. Maybe if it carries on behaving itself I’ll go in 2027.
