Very happy to join this group. I’ve just sold my classic Laverda Jota and bought a white 2024 Speed Triple 1200 RR. Looking forward to experiencing the modern take on a powerful triple. Not the best picture - the sun was shining into the showroom. I’ll get better pics when it’s delivered
Welcome to the forum, a really nice bike you have chosen. Keep posting on your progress. The Jota, what a machine and way ahead of its time, and a great importer, Slater Brothers, these are well sought after bikes.
Thank you for the kind greetings and welcome. As mentioned, the Jota was quite a thing. My father was a Laverda dealer so I grew up with them. For anyone interested I’ve got a Classic Bike magazine on my Jota (which was originally sold by my dad’s dealership) - the file was deemed too big to attach here. I chose the Speed Triple because I wanted to replace one iconic triple with another
I saw both the Slater brothers at a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Jota last August. There is a vibrant community of Laverda enthusiasts but the balance has tipped where supply of bikes is outstripping demand
Post some pictures. I know prices have dropped in the last few years. Anthony Godin has one for sale at present for just under £11,000, not the best example, but reasonable.
Lovely bikes there i very nearly went for a spt rr but went with the Tiger as I feel it will serve me longer before my wrists catch up with my knees plus luggage would spoil the look of the speed triple
I’m coming off a 1982 Laverda Jota which has low clips and is incredibly heavy work on the hands and wrists to ride so anything after that feels relatively easy
Hi Rob, Welcome aboard! I also have a Speed Triple RR but in red... and I had 2 Jotas - a 180 and a 120 - and an RGS as well as a Montjuic on which I very nearly killed myself after my ambition and enthusiasm severely outstripped my talent and luck... Though I live in SE London now I'm from near Henley so we may well have seen each other on the roads at some time...
Great to hear such a bike CV. My father was a partner in Cropredy Laverda so I grew up with them. Hope to see you at a Triumph gathering
