Indeed before these non asbestos pads it was not common to have to replace brake discs unless damaged scored discs were normally skimmed brake drums too. Hate to think just how many drums and discs dad and I have skimmed. It was a standard procedure just like re-bushing water (coolant) pumps unlike today where they just toss them and fit new.

After 4 weeks of snow and ice I did a short ride yesterday evening. I loved it. It was a "night run" but the headlight of the Rocket is great! Now I have to wait until Friday because otherwise I will be washed down from the streets and get drowned .;)

We have so much flooding at the moment, I am on my rest days from work until Monday and just want to get out, but a canoe might be more suitable!!

It's got above freezing now even managed a little fine rain not enough to wash the snow and ice away and further west of us they got freezing rain so no flooding here but it's early yet we have weeks yet where we can get more cold and snow our first winter here we had a bit of snow before Christmas had to drive Mum over the Varna (on the Black Sea coast) to the eye hospital there then boxing day we sat on the patio in T-Shirts it was that warm yet less than three weeks later it was -17c with 80cm of snow.

Take care in this nasty weather.

Nothing. Today is the first day in two and a half weeks above freezing and it's been gray and bleak and mostly in the teens for high temps. Unusually cold for sunny South Jersey. Also, about two and a half weeks ago we had a pretty good snow that turned to sleet. About six inches topped by about an inch of ice thanks to the sleet. It was a mess to clean up, and we are still snow covered! Usually we get snow, it goes up to the 40s or 50s and then it rains, washing the snow away. This is the longest in recent memory that we have had a snow covering. I know folks farther north are used to snow sticking around for weeks or months, but we are spoiled here by our normally mild winters. The robins came back too early. They can't get to the soil for worms and they are starving. We found one Sunday just sitting on my daughter's front step. I was barely moving. We took it inside and it warmed up a bit. We then took it to an animal rescue facility. The intake girl said they have gotten several

Well not today but the other day ran the Trophy 900 up again and once again noticed that if left on choke the revs will suddenly rise to over 3,000rpm have to ease the choke ever back then after a short time this will happen again until warm enough to shut choke off. Not sure as to why this should happen.

Hang in there @Fork Lock! This is why I don't live in Minnesota anymore although I do have family that are still there (farmers). As brutal as Arizona summers can be, I'll take 110ºF over bleak, gray, freezing winters any day (yeah, I say now when it's a balmy 74ºF). ;):joy::joy::joy:

We've had so much rain of late, the worms have been seen with life jackets on. Hope your property isn't too badly damaged.

It's sunny (but cold), and I'm about to go over to Triumph North London for their presentation of the 2026 Bonneville range.

@Dartplayer I hope you haven't lost anything of value to you. We're still flooded here although it's not actually pouring down today, but very cold, so all the water on the roads was turning to ice last night. I am on nights and the roads were lethal in the early hours!

Went out on the Scrambler today, first time it’s run for over 2 weeks and had the recurring electrical issue again. The bike didn’t turn over with its usual vigour, (last time it occurred it spun maybe half a turn and stopped) the entire dashboard went out but this time the bike did start and the display came back on after several seconds. As has happened before, the day/date/clock and trip meters were reset to zero/default settings. It looks like the battery is past it’s best as it should hold a full charge for at least 2 weeks.
I think the conclusion to be had is the electronics on these bikes do not like a battery in anything less than a full charge. When used 2-3 times a week there’s no issue.
I’ll stick the tender on it but a new battery might be on order.
