Love Romania and particularly Transilvania. Have visited over 20 times and married a Romanian! We now have a house in Brasov just down the road from Bran. Beautiful country BUT the drivers are nutcases, especially in the cities. Oh, and if you think the potholes are bad where you live........

 

Stopped there for a coffee... Don't they have a problem with bin-raiding bears in Brasov?

 

They do indeed. In the old times, the communist elite used to hunt the bears but as a reaction to that, hunting was completely banned. The long term result was the largest population of black bears in Europe - more even than the whole of Russia!! So the over population and erosion of their habitat forces them into the city in the evenings to raid the bins. Also encouraged by idiot tourists putting food out for them to get a selfie or whatever!!

 

Resulting in people being gored on the Transfagarasan... A fed bear is a dead bear...

 

So other than becoming a meal for a bear, there's not much to worry about then .

 

Just keep your distance and stay on the bike, you'll be fine. You'll find that when there's a lot of stationairy traffic there's a bear on the verge...
