Welcome to the forum @Shock. I've never heard of changing batteries before a trip either. Most bikes these days have batteries fitted to them that are just large enough capacity wise so if you're not riding every day you might want to get a battery tender which you plug in and forget between.rides (assuming you have power where your bike is stored) I've used an Optimate 4 since 2015 without any problems across 4 B*Ms using a flying fused SAE lead connected straight to the battery. If you get one make sure it's compatible with.the battery type you have lead acid/AGM/Hybrid/ Lithium etc and you're good to go. BTW my B*W starts in neutral without having to pull the clutch in :joy:

Glad you’re enjoying your Tiger. I had a Rally Pro for 3 years and did just under 18000 miles on it. I toured Scotland twice, Germany, French Alps twice, Ireland, Italy Including the Col de Somellier, Norway and many shorter day rides. I rode over 600 miles in one day on it and didn’t suffer unduly. They are a very good touring bike and it was pretty good off road. The only poor bit was the original chain which was soon changed to a DID gold X ring.
