    About the same in NZ, with exchange rate Wessa, I thought US$200 was extreme for Sandi :sob: as that is double ours

    What is the purpose of the wavy disc edge instead of normal round?

    If the pads actually run over it surely it will act like a file and wear them down more quickly am old enough to remember when they first started drilling discs then slotting them the slotted ones made a bit of a racket. Never slotted any but drilled a few in my time. As I recall this came about due to the really crappy performance of the Jap stainless discs in use at the time.

    First discs I drilled were from a friends Norton Commando 850 Mk3 the front on was new but the rear was not had to use carbide tipped drill to drill through the hard chrome of the Lockheed disc (rotor) this was back in 78.

    In theory, superior heat dissipation, reduced weight, self-cleaning action for debris/water, and consistent performance by preventing warping, leading to better stopping power and feel, especially under aggressive riding or wet conditions, Honestly, likely more beneficial under more aggressive riding conditions than I will encounter under street riding conditions. When considering a replacement disc, I looked at several options including the OEM rotor which my closest dealer quoted $350 USD + shipping. The Galfer and EBC discs were less expensive, so I went with the Galfer rotor and EBC sintered pads. YMMV.

    Have never used EBC stuff preferring Bendix, Ferrodo, AP Lockheed or even Brembo. Bought Ferrodo pads for the Ducati the discs were fine both Sports cars have AP racing alloy calipers up front cannot recall brand of pads now the MG's were fitted back in 2015 and not needed replacing the TVR have done less than 7,000 miles in that and pads are fine and the ones fitted when I bought it. The Trophy has TRW pads fitted by the dealer they seem to be good.

    None of them have drilled, slotted or otherwise different from the normal plain discs. I somehow seriously doubt that with my driving/riding that I will wear any of the discs out before I am fully unable to continue riding/driving and for that I ma glad as the prices especially for motor cycle discs is just plain robbery.

    Discs are not as "heavy duty" as they used to be, and I had to replace a warped rear disk on my Hyosung 650 (Suzuki SV copy) and the front discs on my Peugeot 207.

    At least they were not too expensive. ;)

    Ahhh yes have got the check the front discs on the C220 Merc as there is a little vibration on left curves and also on light braking not the weather to be laying on the ground checking it out right now though. Seems Mercs have a rep for warping discs so much for Kraut quality LOL!

    Wavy disks were for off road bikes originally, to clean the dirt etc off the pads when riding offroad, before becoming an aesthetic thing for road bikes.

    Yes I can see how that makes sense but on a road machine it's just vanity or a fad. It's odd that it was cheaper than a normal disc just goes to show how inflated prices are by bike manufacturers.

    When I was pricing up parts to repair my Ducati it was truly shocking at the crazy high prices for silly items like a complete head light unit over 400 Euro fuel tank just the tank no works like pump or filter and hoses near 2000 euro this is just plain greed.

    I think it maybe because the use of asbestos in the brake pad construction was banned some years ago and they now use sintered disc pads instead which are by comparison more abrasive so the discs don't last as long?

    The Galfer wavy discs were standard on the 2016 Black Edition Fireblade and perform equally as well as the round ones I had on the Repsol before it, but look cooler (IMHO) :cool:

    Indeed before these non asbestos pads it was not common to have to replace brake discs unless damaged scored discs were normally skimmed brake drums too. Hate to think just how many drums and discs dad and I have skimmed. It was a standard procedure just like re-bushing water (coolant) pumps unlike today where they just toss them and fit new.
