The intruder is a nice looking bike i like the teal colour seems like a lot of faffing to get a bike on the road there so the intruder being fairly local to you would be the way to go and maybe a deal could be had shame about the TT looks a bonny bike in the best colour for the model if the intruder isn't for you I think as you are not in so much of a rush keeping your eyes on the local rags save paying everyone and their dog to get you a new bike I'm sure the written word or numbers on a piece of paper or phone screen will work as well as an interpreter :D all costs included no dealers import costs to payout privately it's all been done for you better budget for the actual bike

I did not menton and even earlier Intruder a 1992 shaft driven 800 that's hardly run in with just 17,672km on the clock it's in the city so less than 50km away and it's a beautiful burgandy red it's cheaper too one thing that looks a little odd is these earlier Intruders seem to have a more sit up and beg stance could do with a bit more rake in the headstock. However I think that dropping the rear a couple of inches with shorter shocks and a few inches of fork extensions could improve the look?

    https://www.mobile.bg/obiava-51765566774304151-suzuki-intruder-vs800

Just another one to tempt me :worried: o_O .

Sadly even buying an already registered bike still means a trip to the KAT (traffic Police) to change registration to the new owner you have 30 days to do so. There are form to fill in in Bulgarian hence the need for some to do them you can read and write it.

OK got to look at a couple of bikes one was one of those Intruder S800's not the one I saw listed originally but strangely enough the same colour and again with only 17,549km on it. It looks quite nice but the tank has some scratches on it it also was missing a bit when running and was hesitant to pick up cleanly when revved it has been stood for some time not run.

The fly in the ointment was that this Intruder sat between a Shadow VT600 and an Intruder VS1400 both being Black the 1400 sold a few days ago once I had looked over the VS800 and sat on it my eyes drifted to the Shadow and I went and at on asked to hear it running and we discussed it in depth and the prices of each bike both require new tyres and both require registering so that evens out the Shadow is slightly more than the Intruder but it runs cleaner and sounds better to my ears at least. The bars on the Shadow are more to my liking as well and if I am honest I actually prefer the look with the hardtail look of these mono shock 600's.

    It's a little dusty.

This one has 19,000km on it and the paint is metallic with loads of sparkles in it and though I find it odd I really like it even if it is black.

Anyway whilst writing this have also been talking to the sellers son who speaks very good English via Viber on my mobile and have made the decision to buy it his father is going to get prices of tyres for me and will help me with the registration process which we will do after the New Year aiming for middle of January butt his may alter depending on weather and amount of snow we get or don't get and if I am very lucky deliver it home for me as am not supposed to be riding or exerting too much.

Learnt some interesting facts about these Honda VT600's over on the Shadow forums which explains a lot of the confusing information that is on the web like the 600's are only 4 speed in the US this is true but in other places they are more normal 5 speed gear boxes and it seems Europe got different spec bikes and though the paperwork says it was registered in 1999 it appears it's an earlier model with dual carbs and different "Bodywork" the rear light is different as are the rear fender/mudguard and side panels the dual carb bikes are more powerful ......................... Oh the excitement they have an extra whopping 3 bhp!!

Let's face it I have not bought it for it's rip-roaring performance no it's been bought because:-

    1) Need for lighter bike and the weight being low down really helps right now.
    2) I really ... really like the style!!!
    3) Condition it looks like it's basically new and with only 19,000km it's not worn out now is it!
    4) Price is good
    5) It's basically local only 35-40km away depending on route instead of 250km like the others was looking at.
    6) Dealer is helping with registration including transporting it to the KAT office filling in paperwork this means I can get it fully registered in my name instead of having to get Transport Plate that lasts 30 days then have to hire a translator he is also sorting out new tyres for me including fitting them and hopefully transport it home for me after registration ........ no riding yet. This is a huge help and also cost saving translators are getting expensive one we used when the normal one we use was unavailable charged 200 bgn for 2 1/2 hours not what she quoted at all. The translator we first used used to charge 25bgn to register a vehicle that was 8 years ago if it took longer than normal he charged more if it took half a day it wold be 50bgn now it's 100bgn for a couple of hours bearing in mind that he can do 3 or 4 in a day!!

Now yes I had my eye originally on a Black Widow 750 Shadow but that's 230km away and dearer then there is the logistics of getting it home same goes for the VT1100 in Sofia that is 250km I did get a quote for having it delivered but that was around 600 euros !!!!!!!! the bike is only 2,500 euros and it's not in the same condition.

Very interesting @Plezier and Bulgaria is on our list for holiday visits. A friend of the wife's used to live in the UK and work at Padgetts ( Yamaha dealer). She and her husband bought a BMW GS each and toured around Europe settling in Bulgaria. They have invited us over a few times, and even offered us bikes to use once there, so a visit is definitely on the cards.

Please can you share more insight and info on the re-enactment festival as the wife is very much into history/Romans/Vikings etc?

Ok this is from this years one:-

    https://www.museumvt.com/en/news/fo...l-at-the-tsarevets-fortress-in-veliko-tarnovo

This is for the Roman settlement:-

    https://www.museumvt.com/en/news/news-tags/nikopolis-ad-istrum

This is just down the road from me ( 20km) although I have never been as yet intend to correct that this coming year. The city of Plovdiv 3 hrs or so from me has a lot of Roman stuff as does Sofia. I am about 30-35 km from Veliko Tarnovo.

OK the tyres are sorted went with Bridgestone G546 rear and Exedra Max for the front funnily enough did not actually notice when I went and saw it when looking at the Intruder but the tyre on the front of the VT600 is a Exedra Max just an old one dated 2012 hardly worn seems a shame to bin it but have had a tyres compound go off on me once before not risking that again. Could not get Maxxis delivered in time so we could get then fitted before getting it registered tyres should be fitted by Wednesday so Thursday or Friday hoping to get it to KAT and come out with a registration plate.

While the rear wheel is out the dealer is going to remove the backrest for me as I do not want it on the bike will keep it and put it away anyway this afternoon went over and paid for the tyres and left a cash deposit the final amount will be due when we go to the KAT office.

Well I have been pleased with the Bridgestone's on the Trophy hopefully I will feel the same on the Shadow meanwhile today finally made enough room for the bike to go inside:-

    IMG_20260110_153313_hdr.jpg

Need to make up a temp ramp from wood will do a proper concrete one when it warms up properly again. The stuff on pallets on the left needs to move.

    IMG_20260110_153414.jpg

This lot needs sorting some like the Keros marked boxes will be moved to another store they are interior tiles so not light and at present I am not supposed to move them but it looks like I may have to! Best part they are not even mine none of this stuff is it all belongs to the nephew who is not happy that it as to be moved to make room for my bikes. You can see where the walls have not been finished nor the insulation put up. The top of the wall needs to be filled in as well.

Better not show the barn where the cars are then:-

    20240408_112500.jpg

Oh what the heck here it is the other barn is opposite:-

    20240404_132540.jpg

This this is then one at the back behind the TVR Chimaera you can see the cars car barn and on the right is the store that I made room in today this is a 99 MGF 75th Anniversary Edition . Now the store that I am moving some of the stuff into is the white wall front/left of the MGF it's where we also store out winter fuel for the fires. The MGF is an ongoing project and part way through an engine swap on it.

I had an MGF a few years back - had a lot of fun with it, before buying an MX5, which was also fun, but maybe a bit "sensible". :)

    Maybe I mean reliable!

The MGF was transported supposed to be on a trailer that is what was paid for however it arrived 4 months late with an extra 2000miles on the clock with damage the TVR I drove over down through Europe.

Oh I found the F's to be reliable the engine problem was I believe caused by the transporter instead of on a trailer as was paid for when it eventually got to Bulgaria, 4 months later than it was supposed, it had over 2,000 miles more on the clock before leaving the UK it ha a new MOT test on which they write the mileage down so we had proof not just the fact it was clean when they picked it up on a trailer not in the filthy state it arrived in the front wheels were black with brake dust.

I had three MGF's when in England at the same time I might add all bought cheap as they required work on them had to sell two of them and my Rover 623GSI could not bring them all over.

It's been snowing more not supposed to have started until this afternoon (Sunday) ut it started Saturday evening the forecasters cannot agree on what it coming this week either one says no more snow another say more on Tuesday.

    IMG_20260111_130200.jpg

This is the way in no roadway just grass and mud there is a rough loose stone track that stats by the bin it's still snowing fitfully and looking at the skies it looks like more to come.

Those weather forecasts can never be relied on I don't know why they bother they would probably be a lot more accurate if instead of satellites and stuff they got off their arse and just looked out of the window :p

Personally I liked Rover cars never had a 6 series but most others my last being a 820 vittessse lovely car
Had a few montego's as well great value for money had one of the first MG ones with the digital dash quick car
Was thinking of getting a late mgb with the black bumpers just looked more finished than the chrome bumper models or a MGf but decided on the Thunderbird as a step back towards classic plus storage is a lot easier
