    Speed Twin Owners,

My 2024 Speed Twin 1200 shifts smooth though all gears except it tends to clack/clunk between 2nd and 3rd. It doesn't miss or hit any false neutrals but just isn't as smooth as the transition through the other gears. I was hoping it would dissipate once the transmission wore in, but it persists. It tends to be less prominent when the engine is cold and the oil is thicker. Does anyone else out there in ST land have the same issue? I'm hoping it is something in the transmission design but worry that there is a gear sync issue between 2nd and 3rd on my bike. Please let me know if anyone out there has the same issue and, if so, do you know what might be the cause?

    Thanks!!

That clunk is very common on these bikes, especially between 2nd and 3rd. It's generally considered normal for the gearbox design. As long as it's not missing gears, it's likely just a characteristic, not a defect. It often smooths out a bit as you get more miles on it and learn its shift point.
