Temperature definitely has an impact. The recent cold snap here in the uk and the tpms kicked in on my car.
The only thing I’m not sure of is that the recommended rear tyre pressure, as it seems high to me. This was my query. Not how the TPMS works (all my cars have it) nor how temperature affects tyre pressure, which I’m also aware of. Thanks for the replies though.
I have a Multistrada and agree with you on the pressures. I run mine on 32F 36R unladen and if you're all packed up/pillion then I tend to run 34F 38R but do it on the day you're riding because as you say temps can make a difference and 38 set when v cold will be very different in mild conditions. As you're aware each bike and tyre will feel slightly different at different pressures so just experiment, the above works well for me on my bike
@Raveydavey My 2022 gt pro I run on recommended tyre pressures 36-42 and had no problem, TPMS has not come on. I've run it the same winter and summer. I do feel the tyres leave a lot to be desired tho, Metzeler, I'm not greatly confident in the front . My 2012 tiger 800 had the same tyre pressures and never had an issue.
It could possibly be that the high tyre pressures contribute to the feeling you get from the tyres. I have been riding bikes for 40 years and have never put 42 psi in a rear tyre. Mine was reading 45 psi when I rode it the other week in 8 degrees. Who knows what it would get up to with some spirited riding in summer.
