While in the city this morning drove around to the bike shop, the one I know of at least, and bought a replacement helmet had already looked at their selection online so basically knew what was looking for just really had to check the fit and the only one in the colour scheme I liked was the display one seems they lost the box but gave me another box and helmet bag. I did not notice until got home and took it out to take photos that no papers and the chin draft excluder in missing will take it up with them later.

Wanted a bright light coloured helmet to help be noticed although that did not seem to help with the LS2 Rapid 11 Circuit which was also basically white but this Nolan looks good in my eyes at least and only needed a Large in this one and not XL like with the LS2. This Nolan also cost over twice what the LS2 cost but then that was one of their entry level offerings just thought would upgrade seeing as how had to get a new helmet.

There have been studies (reported by MAG in their magazine) of how affective light coloured helmets are at reducing the chance of an accident involving another vehicle (similarly with day-go clothing). Strange as it may seem, there is no evidence that light or white helmets make any difference. But if it makes you feel safer...

I too have bought a new helmet. Shoei Neotec 3. This colour scheme was 20% off luckily for me it is the colour I wanted and being a Yorkshire man saving a bit is always welcome.

Not really but I have never actually bought a Black or dark helmet my first was a white open face by Griffin the second was an orangie/red open face by Owen the third was a full face Centurion Firebird in electric blue the fourth the LS2 Rapid 11 Circuit that I was wearing in the collision and No five is the new Nolan.

Now as for studies I recall how studies in California ack in the 70's that they thought would prove that their headlight on law would make motorcycles more visible yet it proved the opposite due to the oscillation of the light with the suspension it found that drivers were sort of hypnotized and did not see the bike at all. Yet we know how that went it did not suit the powers that be agenda and headlights remained compulsory.

This is one of my leather jackets not the one I was wearing that day but the colour scheme is similar. The Police claim that headlights are required by law but that is only during what they term winter it is not required in summer but if you ride without them you will be pulled and fined ................ illegally but that does not matter. The Ducati being a US model the headlight comes on with the ignition there is no off switch.

Nice looking helmet and I like the colour scheme regardless of reports. Oddly enough I got a discount on my Nolan not the first time in that dealers but I have spent a bit in there and more to spend yet!

Yes, I've read similar studies that show daytime headlights make little difference and drivers still misjudge the distance, and certainly the speed of a closing motorcycle, whether lights are on or not.
Most bikes now sold in the UK have one (or two) permanently-on daytime running lights, even though there is no law for it.
It sometimes seems a bit pointless anyway now that so many idiot car drivers have their lights on regardless of the time of day or weather conditions. And don't get me started on dangerous LED lights, set up high on massive 4-wheels drive tanks . If I'm on the bike and one is coming towards me I hit the high beam button. I know a few elderly people that now won't drive at night because of LEDs, how the hell did that slip through safety testing?

Sorry, getting right off subject

That jacket seems very 80's to me, is the retro look coming back? ;)

IMG_3834.jpeg IMG_3417.jpeg IMG_3415.jpeg The report seems to say that a bright/light coloured helmet makes no difference re being seen. To be honest I didn’t even think about being seen. The helmet pretty much matches the colour scheme of my bike.

    Which is far more important!

And I don't believe anyone who says they don't occasionally look at their reflection in shop windows as they ride past.

Honestly I have no idea how old it is I bought it off the dreaded Bay of E after having a near heart attack at the prices of a new ones here getting the correct size was an interesting experience. That one is a little tight but I really need to lose a bit of paunch. The jacket is a Weise the one I was wearing is a Hein Gericke pro sports both names I had not hard of. My previous leather bike jacket was a Black Campari Lancer jacket but no way would it fit me now it went to a good friends daughter many years ago now.

As for LED headlights I doubt they meet the regulations really but lots of money probably changed hands as it's all about fashion and looks safety be damned. Oh is 66 classed as elderly? if so I resemble that :p.

My helmet no way matches my bike the Trophy is Merlot Red and the Monster is drab black. The Shadow VT600 is shiney metallic Black with lots of sparkly bits in the paint and with lots of polished alloy and chrome .

Well unless you are very wealthy you cannot buy a helmet to match each bike. My bikes are both white with blue and red in one case and pink in the other. The BMW is White, Red and Blue. The old Suzuki DR650 is White, Pink and Blue.

    Yeah, it’s all quite counter-intuitive.
