    Hi,
I am new to the forum and would like to introduce myself.

I have only a few months left in my '60's, where did it all go???, also when younger had hair half way down my back, unfortunately I still do but it's coming from other places rather than my head now!

I am a retired fireman and been riding constantly since I was 19, I realised I have spent too much time restoring bikes and not enough riding, last year I bought a Speed Twin 1200 but due to a couple of things decided to let it go after a few months, however I liked the Triumphs and last month managed to get a 2008 BonnevilleT100 with 5500 miles on the clock which had lain in the owners shed since last on the road in 2011, I bought it from it's original owner, an engineer who had a few bikes and he was able to give me the full history of it, what had been done to it etc., Air Injection removal, K&N air filter and airbox snorkel removal, Norman Hyde Toga silencers, (originals with it), a remap to suit, Ricor valves in forks, and a few other things, for what I paid I am happy, does need a good clean, new tyres, and a complete going over which I have started.

One of the silencers may need replacing,(slight dent), probably need to change both and this is where my fear comes in, although having the Speed Twin this is my first bike that I have had with EFI that I may have to tinker with if I change the silencers, the re mapping bit, I am not great on computers etc. and used to working with carbs where if I changed silencers, air filter etc., I would play about with jets and plug chops until it ran nicely, if I can see something working I am ok with it, but ECU units and re maps are like a dark art!

So there may be some questions regarding that side which may seem basic coming from me.

Here is a pic of the bike I got.
    Thanks

@pseudonym Welcome to the family. Thanks for sharing the great picture and beautiful bike. Changing silencers should be simple enough and the bike should recognise the change. But for a mere thankyou most patrons on here will jump to aid you if need be.

Intriguing. Those two images are EXACTLY the same ...... save for one thing - the yellow flash on the front mudguard in the second picture. It would be nigh on impossible to get the two images so precisely aligned after physically adding the stripe so .........

It, surely, has to be assumed that the flash has been 'post process' edited in to the second picture which, equally surely, begs the question "why?". Is it an AI BOT? Is it a conspiracy that might lead to the implosion and ultimate destruction of the forum and the viral infection of the computer of every forum member that reads and responds ........... ermmmmmm.............

I'm going out now - I may be some time.

The second image was one I had drawn up in 'paint' to see how it would look if I airbrushed a white band and a gold stripe onto the mudguard to try and do something different with the look of the bike, ( while I have it stripped down for cleaning and giving it a once over), using the colours the same as the tank and something that was in keeping with the bike, however, I have decided to go down another route with the mudguards, hopefully I will like it.
I had actually thought of airbrushing a similar design onto the side panels as is on the tank split by a 'Bonneville' decal but tossed that idea away .

You mention, " Those two images are EXACTLY the same ...... save for one thing", that is not quite correct, there are more than one, I redone, in the picture, the rear mudguard and back end, again just to see how it would go.

The reason it was posted in the thread was, I clicked on the wrong pic to attach and couldn't seem to remove it, nothing to do with AI Bots, whatever they are, conspiracy theories or anything like that so you can relax. However I cannot guarantee that if you play Led Zeppelin IV backwards there will not be a subliminal message:yum.

I am now at a dangerous stage with the bike.... it has it's original tyres so a new set is required, but which make and type?, I will read through the forum and try to glean some info, failing that Led Zeppelin IV will be dug out :yum

Thanks to everyone for their kind comments and advice, however, the simple answer to the differences in the pics is explained in my reply in post No.8. I'm sorry there is no conspiracy, no alien interference, just a wee guy's attempt to see what his bike would look like with slightly different paint etc., and the fact he couldn't remove the pic.
