I have mentioned Prostate Cancer UK a few times in previous posts and cannot praise their efforts on our behalf strongly enough. Click the hyperlink that @Bikerman provided and read and hopefully donate.

The other charity is of course Macmillan Cancer Support. Again, their support and literature is invaluable. One of the side effects of treatment for prostate cancer will be the need to pee more frequently, sometimes when there are no facilities immediately available. Macmillan issue, on request, a plastic credit card sized token that you can show to whomever may be able to help you. The attached photos of the token show what you need to convey.

Apologies but I just cannot delete this repeated image. Whenever I try to attach an image it looks for a URL, it doesn't take me to my photo library as other forums do, what am I doing wrong?

What do you guys think about asking Wayne, about making this post a sticky, I think that's the correct terminology.
If in the months and years to come, someone reads these comments, and thinks, I'm up for a test, then that can only be a good thing.??

Great idea! It may not be of importance at present for some guys but further down the road it could be very useful.

Prostate Cancer UK are pushing the government to revise the NHS guidelines issued to GPs. Don’t forget if you are over 50 you are entitled to a PSA test whether you have any symptoms or not. It’s written into the NHS constitution.

A couple of YouTube videos for you to watch:

This one is about the PSA test.

This one is about the newer PSE test. Sadly not yet available on the NHS although developed in the UK.

The UKs National Screening Committee who are looking to recommend that no screening program be recommended for Prostate Cancer are now in a consultation period until 20th February.

Both medical professionals and the general public are able to submit their comments and I would strongly recommend you to do so. Don’t forget that Prostate Cancer is now UK’s most prevalent cancer.

Well reading all this made me get tested as i was am using the toilet frequently in the evening. My test came back negative for which i am glad. The thing that really winds me u is the doctors don't tell you. My Tracy had to chase the results.

@joe mc donald fantastic news, but don't let it rest there. I would find out from my GP how often they would reasonably accept requests for repeat tests.

My reasoning behind this is the earlier it is suspected (I was going to say detected but the PSA test is only an indication that something requires further investigation) the less severe will be the subsequent investigation/treatment and the greater chance of a cure. Catching it early pays many dividends.
