    Hi all,
I want to adjust the angle of the gear shifter on my 2024 Tiger which has the Shift Assist accessory so that my touring boots can fit under it.
According to the manual I need to remove the seat, the tank, unplug the shift assist and dissemble it partly, and then adjust the rod that the shift assist sits on... which sounds madness.
On the other hand, I've seen videos of owner adjusting the angle of the gear shift by adjusting the two locknuts, which looks like a 5 min job.
Ive tried doing that and the nuts are not moving and its not really a part you can put a lot of force on.
Has anyone else come across this/managed to adjust their shifter?

    Cheers,
    Pete

Thanks! Yep thats the video I found as well which gave me hope that I didn't have to dismantle the whole bike to adjust the gear shift ha.
The nuts on the rod on that Tiger seem to be moving pretty easily whereas the ones on mine are not budging. Its only a couple of months old so theyre not corroded etc but maybe the dealer put threadlock on perhaps.
I'll put some more WD40 on and give it another go - thanks very much!

Isn't one a left hand thread?

thats correct yep - the top nut is a standard thread and the bottom one is a reverse thread. So I tried undoing the top nut whilst holding the bottom nut for purchase, but the whole assembly begins to want to move (ie the rod and the shift assist sensor too) so I didnt want to get too heavy-handed and break the whole thing.
The nuts are supposed to be torqued to 6nm according to the manual for the shift assist component which, whilst tight, shouldnt feel this tight.
I'll keep at it and update the thread if I have any luck!
    Cheers

Hi Pete, I have Tiger 900GT Aragon. Bought Daytona boots, Struggled to change gear. Found it easy to adjust the push rod.
Works like a turnbuckle, as said above.....left and right hand threads. Did not get the adjustment I needed, and was
concerned about the amount of thread left in the knuckle. So, easy fix, moved rod by one spline on the shaft.
Slightly more than i wanted, but it works fine. No stripping of parts etc....

Thanks very much, that sounds perfect. Can I ask if you needed to reset the shift assist via the TFT screen after you made that adjustment or was it unaffected?
    Cheers

Hi Pete, you are very welcome. Mine was unaffected. If yours is the later model, i cannot answer your question.
Another point is the nuts on the rod on mine were not over tight, be sure of the thread direction.

All that is required is to slacken off the locknuts, right and left-hand thread, adjust the linkage rod to your desired setting, it is as simple as that.

In the middle of the rod there are 2 flat edges you put a 6mm spanner on that then with your other hand undo the top locknut then the bottom then twirl the rod in your fingers[clockwise] and it raises up the gear lever, takes 2 mins,i just did it yesterday on my new gt pro.

I have on my Sons bike put a bit of rubber on the rod and used some mole grips to break the seal on the two nuts yes one right one left then the same to lock them up again.
