So I bought a few years ago a basic Gerbing jacket which is such a godsend. Thinking at the time the simplest one (no power take offs) will do…. Now a few years down the line I’ve bought some Keis heated gloves and they have their own wires (and batteries).
Has anyone added (as in spliced) to the Gerbing system so it can run add ons and how did they manage it without too much clothing damage?

@Tigcraft Great topic. I am thinking about a heated jacket now.

It’s an absolute GODSEND! A real game changer. Don’t do what I did, I got a basic one as a taster and now after realising how good they are I should have got the one that can run gloves trousers and insoles!!

I have a Keis waistcoat and Keis gloves.
Also I have a Keis power splitter 1 to 3 @ £8. Splits the power before the waistcoat controller.
So I can bike power both waistcoat and gloves. Using a heat controller for the waistcoat but it does not control the gloves as they have their own.

That means you’ve loose wires externally of your waistcoat running down your sleeves in you outer jacket I’m guessing?
The Gerbing garment that i should have bought had built in wires hid in the sleeves with only small connectors at the hand openings. This is what I’m trying to achieve by possibly unpicking part of the inside to lay the cables in.

    My system is
    Power lead to the splitter.
One splitter outlet lead connected to the jacket power controller.
Other splitter outlet lead is connected to the lead that runs to the jacket then internally down the sleeves, to the gloves.
The gloves came with the lead that runs down through the jacket sleeves.
I did contact Keis the gloves must not be powered through an external power controller as they have their own power controller.

For shorter runs I use Keis batteries (£85) and should get about 3 ~ 4 hrs on low. That still kept my hand warm in about 4C - no hand guards so in the full wind blast. Though I was carrying the other leads in the panniers.

Haha yep, I started with the basic Gerbing too… thought it’d be enough. A splitter like the Keis 1-to-3 works if you wanna run gloves or pants without cutting up the jacket. Life-changing once you’ve got all the layers running!
