    Greetings all.

Been riding Hondas for decades and finally pulled the trigger on my first Brit bike, a gorgeous '72 Daytona with 1,500 total miles on it. Should arrive in a few weeks. Seller has provided videos showing great sound, good shifting throughout, seems to run really nicely. Can't wait for it to show up.

I'm no mechanic. I'd love any advice on first steps once it arrives. Would love advice on websites or books that can help me get up to speed on my new baby. Plan is to jump in with both feet.

    Thanks all.

@TexasGator Seems you have got a real gem of a bike. The first i personally would do is change the oils and brake fuudids if applicable. Do tap the upload a file button and show it of so we can have a smile on our faces as well. If you intend to use check the tyres or as you Brothers say tires and brakes. Clutch will probably need freeing up and drive chain looking at and oiling.

    Great bike (I'll should know)
Here is her cousin from across the pond. (Also a '72). Although she spent most of her life in the USA!

Hi, and welcome to the friendly forum. What you have looking at the pictures is a Daytona T100R Daytona Sports, it has the twin carburettors,
The T100R designation was used for models exported to the US, whereas the T100T designation was used for models sold in the UK and the rest of the world. Initially the UK T100T had an 18-inch front wheel whereas the T100R had a 19-inch wheel, the 18-inch variant was subsequently dropped. Originally it had twin Amal Monoblocs, around late 1968, they had twin Amal Concentrics. The exhaust on your bike are aftermarket, OEM ones are readily available and reasonable in cost, if you wanted to keep the classic lines and looks. These are really nice lively little bikes, they don't like being laid up and not used, as you mention you have seen a video of it running sweetly then all I would do is change the oils, including the primary drive and gearbox, regarding the primary drive personally I would renew with ATF fluid, after all it only lubricated the primary drive chain, not the clutch. Also remove and clean the sump filter gauze, all these are very easy to do, you may want to check and adjust if necessary the valve clearances, and this is so quick and easy to do. What you have is a lovely little bike, and it will give you lots of riding pleasure. I have attached a link for a workshop manual. Ignore the modern Triumph Service Sheet wihttps://www.scribd.com/document/482905512/1963-1974-Triumph-350-500-Workshop-Manualll .
