Triumph Ranking List Got Me Like… Really?

Hey everyone,

I just finished reading an article titled “Triumph Motorcycles Ranked Worst to Best,” and… honestly, I’m not sure I agree with a lot of the rankings.

Some parts make sense, but other placements feel a bit off to me — especially how certain models are judged purely on specs or subjective impressions. For example, a few bikes that many riders absolutely love were ranked surprisingly low, while others seemed overrated in the article.

Before I form a final opinion, I wanted to hear what the community thinks.

Do you agree with the ranking in that article?
Which models do you think were unfairly ranked too low or too high?
And what would your personal top/bottom picks be based on real riding experience?

Curious to hear everyone’s perspective — always great to get thoughts from actual Triumph riders rather than just an article writer!

Surprised the Tiger 900 was ranked as low as it is. And the Tiger 1200 didn't get a glowing review. It seems the reviewer has a preference for naked bikes.

 

Well...... if you have read any of my previous comments on my ownership experience you'll know I wouldn't have the Triumph 400's anywhere near the top of the list.... no. 3?.... No way!

 

The difference in time for the F1 qualifying is often around 1 second from first to last place .... a tiny difference

This ranking of the Triumph motorcycles feels the same

Except that I disagree strongly on the 400 being #3

 

Purely subjective opinion in my view and should be taken as a purely entertaining read. How could anyone say the Bobber is the "least loved" of all Triumphs when it is one of (if not THE) best seller in the whole range?
Someone who yearns after a Bobber is not likely to want a ST 765RS. Horses for courses as they say. Doesn't mean one is "better" than the other.

 

I think the author, Stephen, just wants people to talk about him and he's succeeded.
None of his points have any back up and are just his opinion.
Probably the only accurate thing was the Street Triple at the top.

A few of you mentioned the Tiger 900 and the 1200, and I’m with you… those placements felt a bit low to me too. Same with the 400s — seems like that ranking really didn’t sit right with a lot of folks here. And the Bobber being “least loved”? Yeah, that one surprised me as well considering how many people adore that bike.

I get that the whole list is subjective, but it’s interesting to see where the article totally clashes with real riders’ experiences. That’s actually why I wanted to throw it in here — it’s always more valuable to hear from people who’ve actually owned and ridden these bikes instead of just one person’s impressions.

Keep the thoughts coming — the more opinions the better. I’m actually curious how everyone here would reorder the list based on real-world riding rather than rankings on paper.

 

Has any one asked what sponsorship he gets from some brands as it influences his decision. Load of old Blarney.

I don't have the experience to order all of these bikes, but thought I'd have a bash at a top 5, based on bikes I like and bikes friends have..... and the admission that I've never had or wanted a really big capacity bike....

1. Tiger 660 - I really like the look and size of this bike, if I was to buy another Triumph this would probably be the one
2. Bonneville range - class leading retro
3. Street Triple 765 - they just seem to be very good!
4. Trident 660 - in the jet black colour scheme for me....
5. Scrambler 1200 - a bit big, but I like scramblers!!

Well Triumph fans, am I way off?

Probably agree with the #1 choice - the Street Triple is a near-perfect bike. Surprised not to see the T120 somewhere near the top as well, and otherwise it seems to me that it's horses for courses.
