Nope never tried wearing any of those I did have a fabric "under helmet" for the cold winters in the UK but that was over 30 years ago. Plezier
Sounds like the beginnings of a chopper, or flat-tracker, or a table ? Built a neat corner table from the remains of a beautiful ole '54 Tiger 100 once ( the all alloy, close- finned engine model )....
Sadly the parts required just to get the engine running will be 400+ euro and that's buying used parts god only knows what Ducati would charge assuming they still make and supply they could not supply new in tank fuel lines!!!!. We also have to wait for insurance inspection which could be weeks before they come to look at it. Have a few months to think about a replacement that is if I do replace it after I bought the 97 T300 Trophy last just so it's not like I do not have another bike already. Plezier
Dropping back to the earplugs. I used to wear them all the time till i purchased the Arai Quantic. I found the hat was very quite and did not require them. I do also now wear a nylon head covering and if going distance just place the earplugs loosely in my ears. But it scares me Tinnitus when i listen to people affected by it.
Had the follow up visit to the surgeon who did the operation to pin my humerus and it's not good news as it seems it's not mending so he wants to see me again in 4 months so am going to go see my GP tomorrow afternoon as have some questions and hopefully he can access the new x-ray on his computer and ask if I still need to continue with the meds. Spoke to our insurance agent and now have the address in the city to go and make the claim maybe we can get the bike bit sorted at least with the latest visit to the hospital and what the surgeon said any injury claim will be months away before they can even really look at it. It's been two months now and I always understood bones "mended" in about six weeks as that's how long one is usually in plaster and due to the bone being pinned there was no plaster but six months seems an awfully long time for a bone to "heal" even in a pensioner. For the insurance office visit just need to sort out a translator was supposed to go there last Friday after collecting my renewed ID card but the translator forgot and didn't turn up luckily got my card ok but visiting the insurance office was likely a waste of time without one. Sorry things are not working out as well as one needs. Take care of yourself and good luck. Best wishes. RB
Bit of a setback @Plezier but hopefully just a blip. Good luck with the insurance part but most of all I hope you heal fully in the not too distant future.
@Plezier Yes not as happy news as we all hoped for you and your recovery. I do hope things get better for you and you are up and riding again. But do take it easy and look after your health first. We are all in there routing for you mate
Joe I did get to ride my Triumph as it needed moving from where is sits normally to where it will wait for my recovery and the better warmer weather my nephew wheeled it back out from our entranceway but our yard/drive is not level and to move it where it needed to be is slightly uphill an it's not a hard surface being stone on mud which is a bit wet and too slippery to push the bike the few years uphill so I sat on t started it and rode it the whole 20 paces required. Am aiming to get a bike cover for it as it's in an open fronted barn like structure that faces West.. Oh don't believe I mentioned that the surgeon rides a Suzuki V-Strom and does a it of touring he showed me a photo of it in Serbia so not anti Bike ! Plezier
Thank you it's frustrating in that the arm is limiting very much what I can do silly things like bringing shopping in from the car as puts strain on the break showering washing my back tucking my shirt in when dressing these are uncomfortable to painful ............... if I was on my own it would be hard to manage luckily my nephew is here to do the lifting. Plezier
@Plezier As said do take it easy. Let the body heal itself and pushing a managing that big bike does not help. You got to be patient and when you are better it will be more rewarding. Nice to hear your surgeon is a biker at least he talks your language
Sorry to hear you're having such a difficult recovery. Fingers crossed that it's just a matter of a little more time.
Not sure if can get one of those here "the" Triumph official dealer here is not very responsive, might be different if I had a new Triumph or newer one than I have, anyway just took a quick look typed "Triumph Trophy bike cover" into google and got some hits company called Prestige Covers well they certainly have "prestige" prices around £300 then saw Oxford well that's a well know name in Motorcycle stuff would need to ask for their recommendation for the Trophy fit cover. Then there is "Carscovers UK" they have covers listed for my Trophy starting at under £60. Now bearing in mind that my bike is under cover mostly only open from one direction a lighter weight outdoor cover will fit my needs am thinking it would be used in summer as well to keep the dust off and in summer we get a lot of "Dust" fine soil particles mainly. Just looked and Carscovers also do them for my Chimeara at a good price so might order one for that and one for the Trophy. Plezier
OK back from Doctors and it seems that I am worrying for no reason as they now tell me that a pinned bone takes longer to heal and add my age and it will probably take 6 maybe 7 months to heal providing I don't do something silly. Not want I wanted to here but it is what it is. PLezier
Well I am pleased that the delay in healing is age related and not due to a healing problem. However that is a long time. Please take care during the healing process. All the best. RB
Smoking can also slow down the healing of broken bones. On the subject of bike covers, here in the UK I have bought two, one for the Striple and one for my Duke. Cost was in the order of £85 GBP. The first was for the Duke before I bought the Striple so must be six or more years old and the only thing I have done to it was to re-tape the seams with repair tape purchased in a camping shop and intended for the repair of tents.
