Not sure I want to change the tiger at he moment. However if I do stop touring the trident 800 could well be a replacement or the 1200 speed twin. Who knows what he future may bring?
@Wessa: My wife loves her 1200 Speed Twin. She did 9.000 kilometres in 5 months through some European countries with it and is very satisfied! The torque is great and it runs very smooth or also in a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde mode too.
I know how she feels, I had the gen 1 version. Loved it apart from the squealing brakes. The problem has been fixed by Triumph, so if I did swap the tiger it would definitely be on my list.
@TRIPLE X Can i will i chat to Tracy without the divorce word being mentioned. Or get out. Got to be careful now as i have used the last bike scenario to many times now.
Wasn't a fan of the 660 Trident, but with a few tweaks here and there, and they've come up with this 800, must admit it looks a lot better in my eyes.
I fail to see the attraction of the 800 Trident over the 765 Street Triple R. It’s 10kg heavier, less power even though there’s more cc and it’s more expensive.
I just don't see the logic at all with the new Trident 800, it uses the re-tuned Tiger 800 engine, it has less BHP than the Street Triple 765 models, so what benefits are you really getting, apart from a slightly cheaper machine? Triumph has announced a record schedule of 29 new and updated model launches over the next six months, the difficulty I have is that for some machines, parts have already been discontinued, and I am talking about 2020 bikes here, not some early 90s Hinckley models. I recently got some OEM parts for the first-generation CBR600 for a job I was doing, and they arrived in 2 days, likewise I needed a part for my son's Panigale 1299s, no dealer had the part in stock in the UK, so it was ordered directly from Ducati Italy and arrived 4 days later. It is getting ridiculous with Triumph at present, the amount of unavailability of parts is not good, also the QC has deteriorated since production moved abroad, the number of issues some owners are experiencing with the new 765rs is ridiculous. Triumph need to sort out a good parts backup instead of concentrating on yet more new models in my view.
Hi @Baza and @Iceman I get the points you have raised regarding triumph and new bikes, and the lack of parts. it’s interesting the 675/765 triple have never really appealed to me, although I get that they have a massive following.
For @joe mc donald, it sure seems to be, @TRIPLE X! Right, Joe? But please keep it up, my friend. It's helpful to my marital relationship to be able to tell Steve there's someone who buys and sells more bikes than I do.
With Triumph having dropped the price of the Striple R it is now slightly cheaper than the 800 Trident.
Just saw this Trident 800 preview/review in my email inbox this morning so thought I'd share it in this thread. https://womanrider.com/2025/10/2026-triumph-trident-800-preview/?oly_enc_id=5134I0776801G0Z
