My rear tyre is now delaminating @ 6500 miles and needs replacing.

The current Continentals are out of stock. What rear tyres are good options and you recommend?

Currently looking at Dunlop Roadsmart 3 or 4 / Bridgestone B22 / Michelin Road 6 or Metzler Roadtec 02

I had Michelin Road 6 on my speed triple 1050 last year, and the plan is to put these on when i need to change the tyres on my 24 RS, they are great tyres, just need a little warming up in winter,

Two pieces of, hopefully, friendly advice. First, remove the postcode from your profile - it's a pretty good pointer to the location of a potentially worthwhile "lift" for some of the 'lightfingered' scumbag inbreeds that think they're automatically entitled to simply take something that they feel can ultimately provide them with the means to obtain another "fix" of their particular drug of choice.

Second, tyre choice is going to be one of those things that will differ according to a raft of factors - style of riding; riding 'environment'; budget ... and so on. More importantly, though (IMHO) I think most riders would strongly advise having 'compatible' tyres on front and rear - generally speaking that means same brand; same 'type' and - always - of the correct and recommended dimensions. Have you tried mail order - Tyre Tec for example?

You could quite easily get away with fitting a tyre from any of the ones you've listed and, perhaps, not notice any obvious ill effects but, if you can afford to replace the pair at the same time, do - especially on a high performance machine like the 765.

    Wish you luck!

No one has questioned why the tyres are delaminating. Worn out I could understand with heavy use of the throttle but delaminating would tend to suggest lack of attention to pressures. Unless this issue is tackled whatever the replacement is, it will suffer the same fate.

As Helmut says, I love the Dunlop Roadsmart IV SPs on mine and have had several sets. Great for all sorts of riding from small nadgery roads to the track and absolutely excellent mileage out of them.

I have the Michelin Road 6s on my Hyperstrada and have to say they're really impressing me too on that bike, but for now I will stick to the Dunlops on the Street Triple.

Personally, I would only fit a rear tyre of the same make and type, don't mix 2 different makes or profiles, the 765 models need a suitable tyre and a lot depends on your riding style and intended use. Delamination is serious and not something usually seen on 765 STs, do you mean the tyre is down to the carcass rather than delamination, either way a new set is definitely in order. I am putting a new pair on my own STRS 765 this week, and am replacing them with identical Bridgestone S23s. The current tyres on your bike are a strange choice for such a bike, but if they suited you and the bike that's good. Ride safe with whatever tyres you choose.
