Looks like I’m not the only nerd enjoying CEE. Another Antipodean YT channel I enjoy is the Australian Armour museum putting old tanks back together. Ours and theirs if you know what I mean.
Was that in Newcastle? Been to that site several times. I was involved in various weapon systems over the years
Sadly, the whole site has now gone to housing. It was a very big area with it's own internal railway lines, test track, water bath for a tank (leak testing), a variety of buildings, some massive plus stores etc. The engines were nothing like a low emission Rolls Royce motor, on a morning's first start up...... a two stroke has nothing like the quantity of smoke of these And there's nothing better to get the hairs on the back of your neck sticking up........ as a 60 tonne mbt goes flying past at 45 mph with only a flimsy brick wall between you
No, Royal Ordnance Leeds (Barnbow). Supposedly, a certain MP looked after their local constituency in effect robbing Leeds of the contracts, and so basically ringing the bell on time. @Dawsy did you get involved with MLRS at all? I helped build one of the first floor pans. Edit: Just checked to ensure I was correct, Tony Blair is who I was referring to above, so rumour had it at the time.
No not that one. I was predominantly Naval systems. 4.5" gun mostly along with Sea Dart and Sea Wolf. On the Land side it was AS90 and LG105. Funnily enough most of them are out of service now Out of this working lark now though.
