Is there any consensus on the preference? Weight? Handling?

    @Gern:
With a T120 you get more power, better breaks and more torque.
    In loved by former T120!;)

T120 all day long, no comparison. Had one for 8 years.
As Markus says, better brakes, more power, six speed box.

Update, Bought another T120 today :grinning:

Just purchased a T120 over the T100. Coming from a BMW 1200 GS
    My reason.
    1. Brakes, twin front disc. (T100 single disc)
    2. Power & Torque increase. Though more torque wins the day for me.
    3. Better choice of paint colours IMHO

    So T120 wins.

Only reason to buy a T100 over T120 would be cost savings.

I’m a very, very happy T120 owner, and whilst I agree with the advantages mentioned above I’m not sure that it’s so completely cut and dried. If (for example) it was primarily for urban use/commuting/short journeys, there’s a lot to be said for a lighter/more agile (and cheaper) steed. The T100 would be just as capable of providing fun on the twisties, I’m sure, and I dare say would suit a lot of people more than the T120.

It’s really a matter of individual use cases.

Given the near identical styling and minimal 5kg weight penalty of the 1200 it makes sense to go for the bigger motor if the extra costs of the initial purchase price, insurance and running costs (minimal) don’t worry you.
I went from a Street Scrambler, which I really liked, to a 1200 and don’t regret it. I still think the SS has better, more faithful retro styling but for me the bigger motor makes up for that.

Exactly, I had a Sportster Sport for a few years, which was nice enough, plenty of snot .. and GOOD brakes ?? along with an ' 07 Bonnie which are averagely nice, and a neato Legend ... and the 1200 turned up cheap ... yep, nice, I find it a bit top heavy, but easy as much grunt, ( probably more ) than the HD, better brakes, etc ... and I can get both feet on the ground !
Once the suspension is done properly, too hard for me, I see it being about for a long time, along with the Legend !
    P/s .. took the mufflers off ...17.6 kilo ?:D

I rode both twice before picking the T100. The T100 felt less top heavy and more flickable. Had nothing to do with price, just seemed to handle better. Now if my wife still went with me, I would have gone for the T120 for the power and braking, but she doesn't so the T100 seemed the better choice.

I've owned both. The T100 is a good bike for what it is. I liked the T100 for back roads where it's lower gearing is fun to play with. I understand you can swap sprockets, but you'd still have 5 speeds and less power and torque.
That said, the T120 is more flexible, particularly when doing longer rides. The T120's gearing and 6 speeds, makes for relaxed higher speed cruising. The more powerful engine is great. The twin front brakes aren't great, put they're better than the single front on the T100.
I like the T120 so much that I own two of them (for now, anyway!).
