Hello All, i purchased a 2018 street triple 765 r a couple months ago and a i have some issues going on, new to the platform coming from a 2015 yamaha fz07... Bike has 68xx miles, one day i rode to the gym and after my workout i turned the bike on and it throws a CEL and the TC was disabled. Rode it home and it felt like it went into limp mode, bike has P2120 code. I plugged it into the tender for awhile and did 3 start up cycles and it went away, until one day only the CEL came back on with the same code but no TC light. After that happened i checked on tuneecu if the throttle grip sensor was functioning and it seemed like it was, and the TPS seemed to be working too. connections and wires looked good, i did a hard reset by removing the battery for some time and eventually rode it to the gas station on normal mode and didn't feel like it was on limp mode so again, i thought it's fine. Next day, i was gonna go for a ride and decided to switch to rider mode and it throws a CEL along with the TC light, so i tried to go to sport mode and its just blinking and hasn't changed and it's back on limp mode. I love my street triple and i havent even put 1k miles on it and i just want it functioning again!!! Any input is greatly appreciated!
@Jcasteelo Welcome to the family. Must be annoying having this keep occurring. Perhaps you need to talk to a good dealer and possible remap. Some of the wise ones will be here soon as they know lots more than i.
i've been trying to do my due diligence to learn about the bike so i can work on it myself, but it's looking like i might have to eventually. I was thinking it might be the battery since it looks like the factory one. but we'll see i might eventually just have to bring it to the dealership for diagnosis.
all connections and wiring seem fine, It seems like an older battery it was the one i got the bike with. I have a battery being delivered today... i hope it solves my issues cause I dont think this bike would have these issues with less than 7k miles
MAP sensor? If you are in the US put your VIN in NHTSA’s site and see if you have an open recall for the MAP sensor.
