How is it devisive? It's happening more and more. And when you realise that the UK arrested more people for critsising the Government that Russia, it should make you wake up and smell the coffee.

Attempting to pit people or different sections of society against each other is of course divisive. Trotting out this narrative constantly about hurty words on social media and "police vs the people" is divisive. Again I am not saying I am in agreement with much of what is happening in the UK, however a bit of critical thinking should be applied by all of us rather than just swallowing whatever the media would like us to swallow.

And if you believe that Russia would be in any way open and honest about arrest statistics then it's hardly worth the argument....it is illegal in Russia to criticise government or state officials, and actually to get away with simply being arrested in some cases is probably a win rather than being assassinated!! To flee Russia is an option many take, and even then, safety's very much not guaranteed.

I think we all agree the Police are at the sharp end of law enforcement caught between a rock and a hard place, not only facing serious assault or attack while doing there duty but also potentially being prosecuted themselves for wrongful arrest or rough handling of a situation. Basically they do what they are told but I am in no doubt they are given “priorities” with crimes like bike theft and shoplifting falling into the petty category and “offensive” verbal or written “crimes” requiring an immediate and robust response. This has to change.
If I was to put myself in a category, L or R wing it would be slightly right of central, pulling more to the right the older I get and the more I see and hear. Just for the record I’m Mr Media no mates, I don’t use any of it.

Who's forcing you to read these? Freedom of thought and speech should reign supreme in all FREE countries and their forums. No?

Having "known" @joe mc donald for a while on here I would think that he is trying to pour oil on troubled waters, as opposed to trying to stifle free speech.

Just that. There are a lot of problems in this world at the moment but freedom to voice an opinion in the UK isn't one of them. However, where you voice it, may get you in bother at the moment. Of the few forums that I partake in, two that are US based, will have a moderator shut you down, the minute you start a political thread. They get out of shape quickly and the bitching gets pretty harsh. These are photography and drone forums, by the way.
Having worked in Azerbaijan and Iran, opening your mouth and saying the wrong thing, in the wrong place, will get you locked up and in the case of Iran, you may never see daylight again, ever!

Just before we get back to all things bike related I just want to share what happened to me last year before my dogs passed away to put some things into perspective in the UK the neighbours behind us thankfully have now moved one night about 11.30 came banging on our door and started to get irate Infront of her daughter who was supposedly not able to sleep because of someone's dog or dogs constantly barking I tried to explain to her it can't be ours as they are never left out on their own and one that was disabled and had no use of her back legs had to be carried out to do her business and the other one was too lazy to bark I suggested it could be next doors dog as it is a young excitable fashionable cross breed cockopoo or the likes her reply was no it's not their dog I know them and Mrs Chapman used to be my daughter's teacher I continued to try get across that it was not our dogs but she then accused me that the barking sounded like a dog in distress so then I had enough so I kindly told her to #### off back to Liverpool as she was evidently from their it was the ginger hair :p she finally left and thought nothing more of it maybe a visit from her husband but no it was the following day I was out and a knock on our door two police officers wanting to speak to me about a hate crime well I couldn't believe it when I returned home and the Mrs told me that I have received a warning in relation to a hate crime and any further interaction with the neighbours would relate in arrest
Now that really shows where the law sets priority can't say nothing to nobody anymore
Right let's get back to bikes o_O

How sad some people can be. Sorry about your dogs too. Bloody horrible when they leave us, in a strange way you feel like you've let them down. :(:(

In a perverse way there's quite a bit of intolerance being shown here. Nobody is obliged to read any particular thread if they don't want to. Doesn't mean that other members can't discuss or air views outside of bikes. I never look on the damned wordle thread, for example. The most popular threads on this forum are to do with wordle, jokes and scantily clad ladies. :)

IIRC this has flared up before and ended up in some members leaving. Let’s not go down that route again.
This thread was posted in Lounge, for “Off topic and general banter”. If you don’t like the thread, don’t post.

If the scantily clad ladies thread goes, I’m going with it!:p:laughing:

Hell get let off, as his great great grandad was killed at Waterloo, and he's had mental health issues ever since. I won't hold my breath for an appropriate punishment.

"appropriate punishment" Unfortunately flogging, hanging; drawing and quartering are no longer part of the 'restorative justice' programme!

And that's why we have the country we now have. For the Hard Far Left in this country, it must seem like utopia and paradise all rolled into one. I just hope that they're living the dream. Sorry politics again. That's it from me.
