Hi Everyone First post on this forum, and I just took delivery of a '24 765 RS. I'm new to both the forum and to Triumph. The switch comes after a battle to separate myself from a Ducati Supersport 950s (too heavy but oh so beautiful), after having the most fun I've ever experienced on a ride when I test rode the RS. What a bike. I do have a query. I bought the bike from a Triumph dealership (classed as second hand but with only 35 miles). I wasn't able to see it in person due to distance, so asked for a video to show any marks/condition of the bike. Received the video, didn't point out any marks, said that with detailing, the bike will be pristine. I received the bike today. After handing over my freshly cleaned, immaculate Supersport, I got my bike...with cobwebs... so not sure about the detailing, but, small fry, won't affect the ride, I'll do it better myself. But. There is a deep (down to the base) scratch on the seat cowl, as well as two deep stone chips on the back of the cowl. I'm admittedly a little bit OCD with my bikes, but I can accept a used bike will have some marks, but with only 35 miles on the clock, and a video stating it was pristine, to receive the bike with an undeclared deep scratch that I can't buff out... Again, it doesn't affect the riding, and maybe I'll forget it's there eventually, but feel like the overall experience of accepting it was a bit tarnished. Anybody had similar issues? I think by Triumph standards, it wasn't great.
I've recently had a bike couriered to me and pictures were taken both ends of the journey to confirm condition my first issue I'd take up in your case is the description wasn't completely honest so you should have some redress here at least they should send a pristine new cowl in the post to you if you remind them of their description as per advert and I hope you downloaded the advert for future reference as you bought it by taking them at their word with their description, welcome to the forum from North Wales hope you enjoy your bike and get sorted being of a similar disposition myself I clean my bikes before and after each ride regardless of the weather conditions while out riding
When I collected my brand new Street Triple it was disappointingly grubby and covered in fingerprints, absolutely not how I would expect a new bike to be presented. A very minor issue, but still took something away from the experience. Conversely, I bought a then 19 year old Fireblade unseen apart from a video and photos from a dealer who delivered it to our address and it was delivered with care and absolutely immaculately clean and detailed. It was a really special buying experience despite it being one of the cheapest bikes the dealer had in stock at the time. Triumph were great until they had taken my money and then didn't really want to know. The independent dealer I purchased the Fireblade from were fantastic every step of the way. I am sorry about the scratch in your new bike; you are right that it won't affect the ride, but it still really puts a dampener on things. What I am certain about though is that you will fall more in love with it the more you take it out!!!
This is really interesting! I feel exactly like that. I bought my last bike from a smaller dealership but it was absolutely immaculate and the service was brilliant. This Triumph however, I really wasn't impressed. However, I can't slate triumph dealerships in general as engagement with my local Triumph is fantastic. Thanks for your reply.
I've really gone back on forth on this one, but I might get onto them. From a resale/trade perspective, it's one of those that people might view as a pain, much as I have. But I did take it out for a 'subdued' break in ride on the weekend, and it was a tonne of fun. I won't lie, miss the low end grumble and downshift feedback from a Ducati, but I do really love the fluidity and control of the RS. It felt really refreshing. Thanks for your thoughts on this.
Thank you for the warm welcome everyone I'm based in the North East/Northumberland. Looking forward to getting out a little more and breaking the 600 mile mark! Also, is anybody on the Diablo Supercorsa's? I've heard they're a bit twitchy on wet roads.
You will probably feel the difference around town at low speed as I've experienced with the v twins they don't like being in a higher gear under 30 mph so it's low gear higher revs where as the triples and straight fours handle low speed more comfortably without the vtwin chug saying that my rsv mille could do 65 in first and my yzf 750 4 cylinder could be comfortable in fifth around town at 30 mph
