    Hi,
I am at the point of selling or P Exing one of my sports bikes for a Speedmaster. Before I commit to anything though I just thought I should check out something that I either imagined or read somewhere. I believe that the 1200 Speedmaster from 2020 onwards does not lend itself to being serviced by the owner, something to do with an unavailable electronic tool or device. So my questions are,

    1. Can 1200's newer than 2020, be serviced by the owner, if so, what device is needed?

    2. Can 1200's older than 2020 be serviced by the owner, again, if so what device is needed?

    3. Can the 865cc be serviced by the owner and does that need any special tool/device to do so?

My gratitude to anyone taking the time to answer.

    Best regards
    Ian

Hi Ian, once my 2018 1200 passed warranty I serviced myself, until selling it. Most ABS models require a tool to open them for bleeding the old brake fluid, on changing, but I just took it for a ride and used the ABS with heavy braking to clear. It is good practice for emergency braking too.

@Ian Skeldon A lot of brands are going the same way these days as they want to reap the benefits from bikers. But as i have done with my chosen dealer. I do all the servicing i can do and they just check it over. It is not the dealers but the manufactures
