Hi all. I recently changed my old Speed Triple RS to a 2023 Street Triple RS. Overall, I love it, but I noticed a strange noise and I don't know if I'm being paranoid or not. There's a strange "hissing" sound under acceleration at low revs. It sounds like the noise you can hear from the brakes when hand pushing the bike along. It only appears under acceleration, if I pull the clutch in, the noise disappears. No issue at higher revs but that could be because the bike is so much louder at higher revs? It's difficult to tell where it's coming from but I'd say front/right of the bike. Bike was supplied by a main dealer and has been serviced twice by the main dealer, so I'd be surprised if it was something to worry about. But I don't remember any such noise on my speed or my previous 2021 street triple rs. Any ideas? Thanks
Check the SAI caps on the engine head. The caps are held on with x2 6mm bolts and on mine (2018) x1 bolt was like 3mm slack and the other about half a turn. It made some funny noises around the underneath of the tank on the rhs and started to drive me mad as it ran and performed spot on. Worth a check.
Thanks Eldon. Sorry, please forgive my ignorance, but what is an SAI cap?? Any pictures so I know what to look for? Thanks
Here you go, this is the left one. There is also a similar pair of bolts and cap on the right hand side. Tank and Airbox needs to come off to gain access.
