Been riding BMW for the last 30 years (currently on a 2010 R1200R) and came across this Thruxton which I picked up with 13,500 miles for US$ 3K.
Needs some new tires and some TLC, but I am excited about this machine.

    Hey Jochen,

I have had pretty much a parallel experience to you. Last year, I purchased a 2013 Thruxton 900 EFI in Brooklands Green, almost identical to yours. I had been riding BMWs for over 40 years, first an R65 then since 1990 a K100. I wanted something different, and the Thruxton has delivered that in spades. It is a sweet handler and I get admiring looks everywhere I take it. It had 22,000km on the clock when I bought it for $AUD8,700, including a new rear tyre. It came with aftermarket rear shocks and fork brace (both TEC) but is otherwise bog standard. Not quite the bargain yours was, but I am very happy with the purchase. The Thruxton has a more relaxed motor than the K100, but a slightly more aggressive stance and riding position, a combination that suits me just fine. I live in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. There are some brilliant riding roads not far from here and the weather is rideable all year round (although it can get uncomfortably hot in February). Next October I am planning to ride it down to Phillip Island for the Australian Moto GP, a distance of about 2,000km that I will spread over four days with a stop in Sydney on the way. I will need to sort out some luggage as I miss the BMW touring cases I had on the K100. I really hope you enjoy your Thruxton as much as I am enjoying mine.
