I have been looking for an oil filter for my speed 400 and the only results coming up are from India or America at great cost.

Anyone been able to source one or know if it is a common part with other Bajaj built bikes?

    Thanks in advance.

What, you can't order one from the Triumph dealer that sold the bike? A current model and all....

Look at www.fowlersparts.co.uk they list the oil filter at £8.78 plus all the 'O' rings and strainer needed. (All items are in stock according to the website)

They will also available from your local Triumph dealer, its probably not worth looking at after market parts as you will be in danger of invalidating any warranty.

Don't know where you are based, but watch out for warranty - Triumph may be a bit "sensitive" to owners doing their own servicing or using non-Triumph parts while under warranty! Even if they are wrong to question proper maintenance during the warranty period, you could end up with a fight to get any repairs done.

You will also miss out on any software updates and Triumph diagnostics, and there have been a few software glitches to watch out for.

I read there are 2 filters to check/change - the paper filter and a second screen filter. I'm sure you are aware, but thought I should mention it.

Thanks for the reply. I understood the strainer filter is cleaned and reused. Is this not the case?

The procedure for an oil change is in the Owners Handbook which can be downloaded for free online. There appears to be 2 strainers that need to be cleaned in addition to the disposable oil filter. A handbook used to come with the bike, but not anymore it seems.

Decided to go with the dealer.
As much as I would prefer not to go back to Destination Dorset they will do the service free as they supplied the bike originally and I'll only pay for oil, seals and filters.
    And it suits warranty conditions.

To be fair, Destination did not charge me labour as they supplied the bike to the original owner and provided good customer service.
