Hello everyone. I'm just getting ready to buy a bike (or two) I'm 65 and almost retired. I'll be looking for a Thunderbird 900 as perfect and as new as possible (2004 was the last year) or a Bonneville 865 alloy wheels model around 2013 same condition requirements apply. I have a pics of what I'm looking for and will post them when I'm ready to buy. I've looked around the dealers etc but I thought my best option would be to go to where Triumphs are loved and looked after with a passion. I enquired at the Triumph Owners Club but they never replied. I'm not in a rush as my lump sum won't arrive for a month or so. I'm a mechanic by trade and have also worked as a plumber. I have had my own business as well. In neither of those fields. I live near Scunthorpe Lincolnshire and have really missed my bikes for the last 14yrs. I had to sell them as the house I moved to didn't have anywhere for them and no one had room either. That's changed now in that my son has room for one and I hope to move within 12 months so it will then be with me. I've had bikes on and off since I was about 14 riding off road. It just gets in ya and you never stop loving it. Soooooooo . . . when that lovely cheque arrives I'll be posting a wanted for the above. Nice to meet you all
I've owned a Bonneville 865 SE for six years, ridden it as far as Spain, so when the time comes feel free to PM me for a rider's eye view, as it were
Hi Thank you for the warm welcome. I've bought a Legend as the start of my new collection. The picture has been Doctored (by me) to remove the Top Box & Rack. I have bought a Grab Rail and Centre Stand for it and will post the pic again when I have fitted them.
Here it is. I gave it a full service with the exception of the fork oil. I changed the gearing. 19T front 42T rear it's now lower reving. It was 5k rpm at 67 mph and now it's 5k rpm at 78 mph. Fitted fork protectors and centre stand. I posted the wrong photo. Here it is with the centre stand and fork protectors.
