Hi all, I’ve been out in the glorious sun today and done around 120 miles on my 2024 900 scrambler. The bike ran fine and the mpg was as normal. I fitted a set of lower dresser bars and torqued everything back up as it should be with a new gasket and so on. When I got back today I noticed my initial pipes are very different colours, I’ve never noticed this before it may be right what are other peoples like and if something does look wrong what do you think it may be? Thanks View attachment IMG_6157.jpeg View attachment IMG_6158.jpeg
The downpipes on my 2017 Street Twin are different colours, a bit like yours, but it's never bothered me. I'd noticed it some time ago but put it down to haphazard cleaning with the ol' Solvol, maybe using a bit more effort on one side. But possibly there's more to it.
@Jako999 Perfectly normal. Its the bends in the pipes retains the heat. And the fact they don't get double skinned any more.
They look the same as they did on the two SS's I had and also on the 1200 I have now. Double skinning is usually done on chrome exhausts but not so much on stainless steel. The headers on the scramblers can be polished to a mirror finish if you're bored but after a few miles they'll return to their "normal" colour.
