Hi all, last saturday i got my 2019 Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE: Really like the bike and look forward to riding it more! Small question to riders of the 1200, can the ride be a bit rough when you release the clutch at low RPM's? Cheers, Bowler
Greetings and welcome to the forum, @Bowler. That's a good looking bike! I don't ride a Scrambler but there are plenty of others here who do. You might also want to post in the Scrambler Forum on this forum to reach a more specific audience.
What do you mean by "rough" and at what rpm's? Do you mean a lumpy/vibey engine or the clutch grabs and isn't a smooth release? I have a 2024 Scrambler 1200 and though I wouldn't call the engine smooth compared to, say an IL4 it's not intrusive and the clutch is nigh on perfect. Being a newer model mine is Euro 5 so will have a different engine map to your bike. Welcome BTW.
Thanks! Yeah, I guess it's a lumpy engine, when I rev a bit higher it pull away smoothly. I guess I'll have to ride it more to see if it's normal or not.
I don't know your riding history but, excluding a Ducati I bought in 2011 and got shut of quickly, the Triumph modern classic range are my first experience of twin cylinder machines after a lifetime on Jap IL4's. I rode an original, early 1970's air cooled Bonneville years ago but I daren't post on here what I thought of it! The modern classics are very different to both of the above and actually exceeded my expectations when I test rode one and I love them for what they are.
@Bowler Welcome to the family. Great intro and fab picture. Nice bike. Make sure you cable is adjusted properly. When you pull the lever give it a half a minute to settle before gearing.
Thanks all! Had a longer ride yesterday and I guess the feeling is mainly a bit of rough running (or twin vibes, previous motor was a MT-09 Tracer), so I guess I have to get used to it Perhaps a BoosterPlug might help, but I’ve read varying experiences with those on this forum.
